Babys Brain Image Design 1 - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s BrainThe brain develops from the very first moment of conception. Therefore it’s so important to get plenty of folic acid during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. In fact, many doctors will tell you to take the supplement while you’re trying to conceive, as you’ll miss out on a few important weeks since you don’t usually find out you’re pregnant until you’re 4-6 weeks along.

However, the brain development doesn’t stop in those 12 weeks. It’s continually in need of support. You’re born with all your brain cells, which means you need to protect them as much as possible.

Your baby needs your help to protect and develop the brain. The right foods will help to improve the learning and the connections, so your baby has better cognitive function and will be able to take in more from a younger age.

With that in mind, you’ll want to add these seven foods to your baby’s diet. They’re brain-boosting foods that your baby will enjoy and can continue long into adulthood.

Stock Up on the Leafy Greens

Stock Up on the Leafy Greens - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

One of the best things you can feed your children is a selection of dark leafy greens. Whether you opt for kale, spinach, collards or even broccoli, a mixture of the green vegetables will give your baby plenty of the vitamins and minerals needed to support the brain health.

Leafy greens are also good for other body functions. They’re packed with calcium and iron, helping to support energy levels, bone health, muscle health and so much more. It’s not surprising they’re known as a superfood and something that adults are also recommended to keep eating in the future.

Kale certainly is the most powerful of all the leafy greens, but it’s not a popular option for many children. It tends to be bitter, so if you do opt for it, you’ll want to add some blueberries or lemon juice to the pureed kale to take away some of the bitterness. Spinach is slightly less bitter and still offers many of the same benefits.

The important nutrient for the brain is the folate—another name for folic acid. Those who get plenty of folates have shown a lower risk of developing dementia later in life. The nutrient helps to protect the brain cells, reducing the damage to connections in the brain.

Kale is powerful specifically for the extra antioxidants. They help to repair cell damage and get rid of abnormal cells in the body. You can prevent damage to the brain cells.

Pureed greens are the best option for young babies, but you can start moving onto chopping and cooking with other ingredients. Mix your kale or spinach with eggs and make an omelet. Kale and spinach chips are also popular options, and make your children feel like they’re eating something naughty for them. They get into the habit of eating healthy treats.

Smoothies are popular during snack time. Mix the greens with some bananas and strawberries or blueberries for a creamy, bitter-free smoothie.

Add Two Portions of Fish a Week to the Diet

Add Two Portions of Fish a Week to the Diet - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

Let’s look at one of the most popular brain foods for adult: fish. You’ll have heard that fish is good for the levels of omega 3 and it’s this that offers all the brain benefits. The omega 3 is a fatty acid that works as an antioxidant. It protects the brain cells, while also improving the connections. Those who get plenty of omega 3 have shown better cognitive and memory abilities. They feel less foggy throughout the day and have better energy levels.

Fish is also packed with vitamin D. This is important for the overall health, but also helps to prevent the declining mental skills as a person gets older. Your baby will also have better skin and bone health, improving their life quality.

You can get fish into the diet extremely easily, and you only need 1-2 portions a week. Any more than that and you run the risk of too much mercury in the diet. Salmon and tuna are often the easiest options for babies—and a lot will love tuna mixed with some sweetcorn and other vegetables. You can also opt for other oily fish, including sardines and mackerel. The choice is up to you!

Make sure you check for small bones in the fish. They are a choking hazard, especially for young babies.

There are so many ways to use fish in meals. Mixing with vegetables is one, but kids will also love tuna sandwiches and wraps or to eat it on its own with a dipping sauce. You can even make your fish tacos or fish fingers.

Start the Day with Oatmeal

Start the Day with Oatmeal - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

There’s no need to look through the cupboards for ideas on how to start the day. Oatmeal is the best option for your baby. One of the greatest things is that it’s bland, which will work for your baby’s taste buds. It’s easier to settle on fresh taste buds, but you can always add some fruits or a little natural sweetener if you want to add a bit of taste.

The oatmeal is also soft and runny. There’s no need to puree it to make it suitable for your baby’s diet.

Oatmeal offers a range of benefits, but the brain health is one of the biggest. Studies show that children who get a little-sweetened oatmeal to start their day have a better memory for school tasks. This can transfer to babies, who will have better development skills throughout their early life.

Plus, the oatmeal is filling. This naturally helps the brain. There’s little risk of feeling hungry early in the day, putting a child off from learning. Sugar cravings and other food cravings aren’t as common, meaning your baby can focus on the tasks at hand.

You can help to further boost the effects of the use of a little cinnamon. This will naturally improve the taste without affecting the blood sugar levels. In fact, the cinnamon boosts the immune system and cell health, further helping to protect the brain.

Stock Up on the Greek Yogurt

Stock Up on the Greek Yogurt - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

One ingredient you want to stock up on in the fridge is Greek yogurt. This may be expensive, but it’s worth it for the health of your baby’s brain. In fact, Greek yogurt is the best type of yogurt for your diet, so you’re in a win-win situation.

Greek yogurt is full of the complex B vitamins, which are necessary for the development of the central nervous system. This links to the brain development and health. The vitamins will keep the tissues in order and improve the neurotransmitters, helping to send the right messages around the body and take in more information.

Of course, Greek yogurt is soft and liquid. You can use it without pureeing in your baby’s diet, making it one of the perfect options for a snack or even as part of the lunch or dessert. Get a small bowl of Greek yogurt with a little bit of fruit to help get rid of the slightly thicker taste of the Greek yogurt.

You can also add the yogurt to your smoothies, helping to create a creamy and beneficial taste to your drink. Replace the bananas with the Greek yogurt now and then. It’s also a good option to add to soups to make them thicker and creamier.

If you have the time, you can even make your own. This will take some practice, but it’s perfect if you want something healthier and tastier.

When you do buy from the store, opt for plain Greek yogurt and flavor it at home with some fruit. The flavored options are packed with sugar and will cause health problems for all.

Consider Avocados in the Diet

Consider Avocados in the Diet - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

Avocados get a bad rep as being the expensive millennial food. However, they’re among the most beneficial options for your health. Avocados are full of fat, but the right type of fat. They’re made up of unsaturated fats that will help to offer a range of health benefits, improving your ketone development for energy and supporting the cell health, especially in the brain.

The unsaturated fats also help to line the arteries with a smooth lining that helps to improve the flow of the blood. Better blood flow means better brain health. The blood gets the oxygen to the brain, helping to improve alertness and other cognitive functions.

Avocados also have oleic acid, which helps to protect the myelin in the body. This is needed to spread information around the body. Did you know information travels around the body at a rate of 200mph? This is especially the case at a young age when babies are learning a lot of actions and taking in multiple senses in such a short space of time. You want to keep that myelin production at the optimum level.

And then there are all the B vitamins that you can get in avocados. You get the same benefits as Greek yogurt. Avocados have also been linked to reducing hypertension risk in babies, which will also offer further health benefits to the brain.

You can easily add avocados to your baby’s diet. The easiest option is to mash it. You can always mix a little Greek yogurt in with it, or you can serve it on its own. Serve it on the fish tacos for a delicious Mexican-style dish.

Don’t Overlook the Eggs

Don%E2%80%99t Overlook the Eggs - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

Eggs have gained a bad reputation over the years for being unhealthy. There was the view that they were full of cholesterol and that was bad for you. Well, it turns out there are two types of cholesterol and eggs are full of the good type. When eaten in moderation with a healthy diet, there’s nothing wrong with them. In fact, they’re excellent options for babies.

The good cholesterol helps with protecting the artery walls, improving the flow of the blood. This improves the health of the brain, in a way that avocados do.

On top of that, eggs are full of omega 3 fatty acids, so you’re getting the same benefit as the fish, and choline. It’s the choline that you want to focus on. Choline improves the production of memory stem cells, so you will find your baby has improved memory to take more in and remember more in the earlier stages. This benefit sticks around for the time you eat the eggs.

There are also higher levels of zinc and lutein in eggs compared to many other ingredients. Both will help with boosting the immune system and the production of vitamin A, supporting the overall health and, in turn, the brain.

You can scramble eggs to make it easier for babies to eat them. As they get older, you can look for other ways to use them in your child’s diet. Don’t forget omelets, where you can add so many other ingredients already mentioned in the diet.

Try Nuts and Seeds

Try Nuts and Seeds - 7 Brain Boosting Boosting Foods for Your Baby’s Brain

If your baby doesn’t have a suspected or known allergy, you’ll want to add more nuts to the diet. Nuts and seeds are packed with selenium, which can help to improve the energy levels. This is a nutrient that we all tend to be deficient in and mimics the symptoms of low iron levels. In fact, it’s common but often misdiagnosed as anemia.

You only need to add a Brazil nut to the diet. Crush it and add it to the oatmeal in the morning. However, you can also crush other nuts and use them instead. Seeds work, but not as well as nuts.

Nuts and seeds are also full of healthy fats. They will help to protect the arteries to improve the flow of blood around the body. We’ve already looked at the brain benefits the right fats offer.

Then there are the many other benefits. Nuts and seeds are full of macro and micronutrients to protect the cells, improve the immune system, and support the overall health of the body. When everything works effectively, your brain health is supported.

Of course, if there’s a suspected or known nut allergy, you’ll want to avoid it. Opt for just the seeds to get some of the benefits.

Add One Thing at a Time

There’s no need to add everything on the list into your baby’s diet right away. This can become overwhelming with so many new tastes. Start with one item at a time and add it to food that your baby or child already likes. From there, you can start adding others, and you’ll soon have a diet that is full of brain-boosting benefits.

Summer Diets Image Design 1 - The All-in-One Guide to Summer Diets

There are several ways to lose weight to prepare our bodies for summer. But one thing is for sure; total abstinence is not a solution as it may even cause more harm than good. What then are we supposed to follow to get us ready for summer? Obviously, overeating is out of the question. So is drinking too much alcohol. Munching on anything and everything would make things worse. Or even worse if one eats too much then just graze all day. Whatever, a person decides on will be his choice.

It would be quite depressing and dangerous if a person does all this. If so, it’s now the best time to change one’s ways. Of all these unhealthy habits, choose one and then focus on taking that off the list. For instance, on overeating, it’s about time one reduced portion of his regimen. Prepare enough for what the body needs. Ending up with too much is just gluttony. This should be a good start.

A Simple Diet Plan With Meal Suggestions

A simple diet plan with meal suggestions - The All-in-One Guide to Summer Diets

Summer is the perfect time to start a diet because of the endless variety of vegetables available in the farmer’s market. Vegetable dishes are easy and quick to prepare. At this starting point, one wouldn’t want to spend too much time making diet meals. Fresh crops are tasty and juicy, and it’s easy to carry the practice of eating them way past the summer season. Here’s a simple diet plan people can follow to kick off their summer diet:

Consider These Foods For Breakfast:

  • Greek yogurt and a nutrition bar. Supplement this with a nutrition bar and a peach.
  • Cereal and fresh fruit. Cereal should, of course, be the whole-grain type, better yet if made from flax or other types of seeds. Use fat-free soy milk or fat-free milk. Then add assorted berries.
  • Cook eggs or just egg whites, omelet style in olive oil. Then top the dish with some herbs like parsley, basil or tarragon. Season with a dash of salt. To complete the meal, add some cantaloupe slices and whole-grain bread with goat cheese.
  • Whole-grain summer waffles with maple syrup. Have some slices of nectarine to go with the waffles.

Consider These Foods For Lunch:

  • If you prefer Japanese, order vegetarian sushi rolls preferably those made with avocados and brown rice. This, of course, will be served with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger. You can also add some steamed edamame if available.
  • Make a turkey and arugula sandwich. Slice a whole-wheat baguette, spread some horseradish sauce, then stuff with lean smoked turkey, sliced tomatoes, and some baby arugula. Sprinkle with some balsamic vinegar and a dash of sea salt.
  • Try a Mexican confetti salad. Finely chop some romaine lettuce and red cabbage. Dice some yellow squash, quarter some grape tomatoes, shred a fennel bulb, and some carrots. Also, add some black and white beans. Finally, for seasoning, add some cilantro, juice of half a lime, some olive oil, and sea salt. Toss all the ingredients together and serve with tortilla chips and salsa.
  • Also, one can make a Serrano chicken Caesar salad. Toss romaine lettuce leaves with some Caesar salad dressing, grilled chicken breast slices, minced Serrano peppers, and a handful of sunflower seeds. Enjoy the salad with grapes or slices of honeydew.
  • Vegetable gyros are also tasty and filling. First grill a veggie burger, then slice it into strips. Season the slices with garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika. Place these inside a whole-grain pita, then add orange bell peppers sliced extra-thin. Finish this off with some tzatziki sauce and fresh chives or parsley.

Consider These Foods For Dinner:

  • One can make Mediterranean-style turkey burgers. Grill some lean turkey burgers, set them down, and arrange on them pieces of feta cheese, roasted red peppers, and fresh basil leaves. Finally, top with avocado slices then serve the burgers over steamed quinoa and lemon wedges.
  • Try some quick vegetable dishes. Choose greens that go well in sandwiches. Put the greens on some rye bread. No need for feta cheese. Or you can ignore the rye and have the salad greens with some pesto soup. Or one can opt for a Caesar salad without the croutons.
  • A shrimp salad with corn would be great too. Choose some salad greens then toss these with some grilled shrimps and chopped seasonal vegetables. Use a vinaigrette for dressing. Serve the salad with buttered corn and Romano cheese.
  • Finally, one can also whip up Thai salmon and soba. For an Asian flavor, brush salmon with sesame oil then either pan-fry or grill it. Grill some asparagus spears as well. Prepare some soba noodles tossed with Thai peanut sauce garnished with minced red cabbage, and fresh scallions.

One Can Also Munch On These Healthy Snacks:

  • Fresh berries and some dark chocolate.
  • Banana slices with chocolate-hazelnut spread.
  • Fat-free frozen yogurt in a cone.
  • Fresh strawberries with agave nectar or honey.
  • Snow peas and hummus.
  • Any smoothie with healthy ingredients.
  • Gouda or aged goat cheese with roasted pistachios.

Some Practical Summer Weight Loss Tips

Some practical summer weight loss tips - The All-in-One Guide to Summer Diets

Those pointers on how to lose weight may sound so achievable. Eat less and exercise more. But these are just words and losing weight is easier said than done. But one can lose the extra pounds if he puts his mind to it. Fortunately, weight loss would be less daunting if one starts with a plan. Here are some tips to add to the plan:

Try Taking an “Alcoholiday”

This is a vacation away from alcoholic follies. People may not know it but, chemically speaking, alcohol is like sugar. Drinking too much will activate insulin resistance, and this will lead to weight gain. The liver is the body’s “punching bag” for alcohol drinkers. It’s about time to give the liver a well-deserved break.

Select Carbohydrates Carefully

Carbohydrates which are highly-refined are the main reason for the occurrences of spikes in the levels of blood sugar. This will then facilitate the buildup of fat which is consequently guarded against depletion. Instead of refined carbohydrates, choose slow-burning and unrefined ones.

Go the Mediterranean

Research has been done on why people around the Mediterranean a lot are healthier and live longer lives. It’s because their diets include a lot of whole-grains, vegetables, nuts, fruits, lean protein, low-fat dairy, and olive oil. Maybe it’s time we followed these people’s lifestyle of healthy living.

Go for Soups

Eating soup will make one feel full and can decrease the craving for food. It’s an excellent appetite suppressant since it contains a lot of fluids and solids. Having it before consuming a meal can considerably lower calorie intake. If one is determined to lose some weight, substitute the lunchtime sandwich with a bowl of vegetable soup.

Watch the Portion Intake

Restaurants can serve portions that can be considered adequate. Unfortunately, such portions have rocketed these days, and what is served, people tend to finish. Self-control is important, and we need only eat portions that are good for us. Downsizing would be nice.

Go for Fresh Fruits Rather Than Juices

One may not be aware of it, but fruit juices also have high sugar levels and have less fiber content. Furthermore, the nutritional values of fruits are mostly found in the skin which, unfortunately, are disposed of after juicing. For maximum fruit benefits, eat apples whole, skin and all. Then wash it down with water.

Choose Coffee Wisely

Recent studies on coffee have shown that the beverage is not bad at all because it contains many nutrients. Drinking coffee per se is good, but its sugar and dairy additives become calorie traps. So, during the summer, swap those nutrition trap lattes with plain black coffee, herb tea or green tea.

Foods to Eat During the Summer

Foods to eat during the summer - The All-in-One Guide to Summer Diets

Summer should be a good time to change the diet. In the heat of summer, one will be exposed to a lot of conditions like dehydration, skin allergies, and many more, not to mention excessive sweating. One can be relieved from all these by a very simple solution. Eat local fruits, and there are plenty because most will be in season. Also, summer is that time when fruits will contain the most nutrients. Fruits, together with some other foods, can make one feel and look good.

Apples, Figs, and Pears

These fruits have high-fiber contents. Wash the fruits and eat the skin as most of the nutrients are found there. If organic ones are available, buy those.

Apricots, Peaches, and Nectarines.

Consumed fresh or dry, they are a great source of fiber. Nectarines are rich in vitamin A and the antioxidant beta-carotene. Peaches contain plenty of vitamin C.

Avocados

Surprisingly, this fruit is a very healthy source of monounsaturated fats and could be lumped in the same category with nuts. Being a fruit, it deserves a class of its own. If one ever gets stranded on a desert island, he could only wish an avocado tree grows there as its fruit can provide nutrients that are good for the heart and overall wellness.

Blackberries or Raspberries

Both these types of berries are rich in fiber. Raspberries have often been ignored because they’re pricey when off-season. However, this little berry packs lots of nutritious qualities. Aside from fiber, it’s rich in vitamin C.

Celery and Fennel

When one feels “puffy” and he’s are headed for the beach the next day, eat some celery or fennel. The diuretic property of these two will help the person lose that excess water weight in his system without causing dehydration. The substances of these veggies will stimulate the kidneys and causes them to flush waste and extra fluids out of the body. It will then subdue that bloat in the tummy.

Green tea

An exciting alternative to water to maintain hydration is green tea. This would be perfect for those hot summer days. But that’s not all. Studies have shown that the tea can be beneficial in fighting off cancer and heart disease. It can also lower cholesterol levels, enhance metabolism, and stave off dementia.

Nuts

Snack on healthy nuts like almonds, cashews, and peanuts as they’re rich in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats which are known to lower bad cholesterol levels.

Oranges

It’s the most popular among the citrus group. Oranges are potassium-rich, and this substance is essential during hot summer days. When a person sweats because of heat, potassium will be lost, and this may lead to muscle cramps. Consuming oranges can replenish the potassium supply and consequently can keep cramps from happening. Also, an orange is a good source of rehydration during sweaty summer days.

Salads

When available, eat a lot of raw kale and spinach to save the skin. The carotenoids in these foods, especially the dark variety ones, will be converted by the body to vitamin A which will protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Vitamin A will decrease the skin’s sensitivity to ultraviolet light, can mend flaky or dry skin, and can strengthen the skin’s defenses.

Salmon

Again, the Mediterranean diet is invoked here, a diet which involves the consumption of fish to reduce the risks of heart diseases which is the most common cause of death in women. Aside from the disease-fighting Omega-3 oils, fish is a great source of protein.

Strawberries or Blueberries

These sweet and juicy berries contain high levels of flavonoids which are potent disease fighters. These are found in a lot of vegetables and fruits. They can help enhance blood flow to the skin and decrease the skin’s light sensitivity. Also, these components improve the skin’s texture, appearance, and structure. These benefits are important during summer days because there are more hours of daylight and more time spent under the sun. Flavonoids have also been proven to help slow down the decline of cognition.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are already known as good sources of antioxidants and vitamin C., But these red fruits also contain phytochemicals such as lycopene, which help in the prevention of chronic diseases, especially cancer.

Watermelon

Its name already implies that it’s a good source of water for hydration and this is exactly what you’ll need on hot summer days. The water content in this huge fruit can keep one keep cool and hydrated. It can also act as an appetite suppressant because it will make one feel full, thus curbing the cravings for food. It truly is summer’s best fruit because it contains lycopene, a substance that protects the skin cells from sun damage.

Yogurt

This is an ideal source of protein during hot days. It’s packing in small containers makes it portion-controlled and can be handily placed inside the tote bag. Its protein content will satisfy the stomach and will make one crave less for those high-calorie barbeque treats later the beach. Choose yogurt that’s low in fat and high in protein. Yogurt also contains trillions of those beneficial bacteria that keep the digestive system function smoothly.

Zucchini

This is a favorite summer vegetable which belongs to the squash family. It’s high in a fiber called pectin which has been shown to increase heart health and in lowering cholesterol levels.

The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

45c2995a2733ad68cddaa71339c3d2ef 2000x1200 - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

Fasting Image Design 1 - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

You’ve likely heard all about fasting. It’s used to lose weight, remove toxins, and improve your lifestyle. But is it that good for you? How do you do it in a way that’s safe and beneficial?

There’s a common misconception that fasting is an unhealthy way to lose weight. The truth is that it can offer some health benefits, but you need to do it properly. This isn’t just about cutting out all food for a day or only eating one meal a day. You need to get the right foods and the right amount of calories throughout your fasting period. Then when you go back to eating, you need to think carefully about the food that you enjoy.

Here’s your all-in-one guide to fasting. This is more than how to do it, but how to do it safely to gain all the health benefits you can.

What Exactly is Fasting?

What Exactly is Fasting - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

Fasting involves going without any food for a set period. You’ll see some religions that encourage eating and drinking nothing throughout the day, but enjoying their meals before the sun rises and after the sun sets.

However, things are changing. There are now different versions of fasting, and in some of them, you can consume some food. The idea is that you reduce your calories to a bare minimum, so you still create the starvation period but without actually physically going through the lack of food.

We all fast throughout the night. We go through this long period without eating anything, and that is technically fasting. Therefore breakfast is so important, as it helps to boost the metabolism after the longer period of not eating.

Our bodies also go through a fasting period when we’re ill. The immune system kick-starts a drop in the blood glucose to help fight the infection better. When you’re ill, the last thing you want to think about is food, and it is helping to make you better. So that idea of fasting being bad for you is wrong. It’s when you fast in the wrong way that causes a problem.

Health Benefits of Fasting

Health Benefits of Fasting - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

Choosing to fast can help offer some health benefits. They can help in both immediate and long-term benefits, supporting the weight loss, fitness levels, and even the organ health.

When you fast, you improve your blood sugar balance. It’s possible to reduce the number of sugars you consume, so your body manages the healthier food when you do get it. This can help to manage conditions like Type II diabetes.

Some people have seen benefits in reducing inflammation, which aids in autoimmune disorders and chronic pain. By reducing inflammation, you can reduce joint pain and arthritis. It’s possible to bring an end to the likes of irritable bowel syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome. You can improve your gut health and fight off the likes of PCOS and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Of course, there are some weight loss benefits. You reduce the number of calories you consume in the day, which helps to create a calorie deficit. Your metabolism will burn more from your fat and muscles to help get the energy needed.

Many people believe that fasting is bad for the energy levels, but when done safely and properly, it can be very good. When you fast, you reduce the sugar spikes and slogs. You get rid of the dips in energy, making your levels more consistent and supportive.

Then there are the mental health benefits. Because of the lack of inflammation and improved energy levels, you can get rid of the accompanying brain fog. It’s possible to get rid of cognitive issues, improving your memory, alertness, concentration and more. You get rid of that mental fatigue; the mental exhaustion that makes the rest of your body’s energy dips.

Sugars cause dips in the energy, and you’re not just supporting your blood sugar levels and the energy levels by getting rid of them. You’ll stop the sugar cravings. Sugars are like a drug (in fact, some studies show that they’re worse than some drugs for addiction) and you start craving them if you stop getting them. By fasting, you get through the addiction period, so you stop craving them in the long term.

Food cravings and sugar cravings are often the reason for weight loss resistance. By fasting, you help to get over the plateau in your life.

How Does Fasting Help So Much?

How Does Fasting Help So Much - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

Researchers are still looking into all the reasons, but the most common is a process known as autophagy. This is a cellular process. When you fast, your body cleans the weak cells out and replaces the body with the healthier cells. You have more room for the new cells and tissue, so you get more the healthier particles in your body.

Your body’s digestive system also gets a break. This can help to reduce reactions to foods that you didn’t realize you were allergic or intolerant to. You can reduce the sugar to help reduce inflammation and health problems. Your digestive system isn’t as sluggish, which helps with your overall energy levels and health.

You also get a better flow of blood, which is where the brain and the mental fatigue benefits come into play. Your brain gets the blood and oxygen needed, helping to protect the cells within the brain and improve the connections.

Prolonged vs. Intermittent Fasting: What’s the Best?

Prolonged vs. Intermittent Fasting What%E2%80%99s the Best - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

There are two main types of fasting that you can do: Prolonged and intermittent. Most people choose intermittent, but it’s worth looking into the details of both to figure out which is the best for you and your needs. Both can be safe, as long as you follow doctor’s advice and health tips.

Prolonged Fasting. This is when you fast for a prolonged period. Yes, the clue is in the name.

A prolonged diet isn’t usually followed on a regular basis. There’s no set time to follow this fast, except for the times that you feel it necessary. It’s sometimes referred to as a prolonged detox diet, and the idea is to get rid of all the gunk and toxins within the body. The most popular diet is the Prolong 5-Day Fasting Mimicking Diet.

You’ll allow the body to enter the ketogenic mode by fasting for 2-4 days. Any more than four days can be dangerous to the overall health. When the body gets into the full ketogenic mode, it encourages the fat cells to break down and convert into energy. Your stem cells become activated, and you can target the abdominal and visceral fat within the body. You can put your organs first, by getting rid of the most damaging amounts of fat.

This is a diet to discuss with your doctor. You want to make sure you’re on track to avoid damaging the whole health by not eating.

You can still drink water throughout the period. After all, not getting any water for a few days is extremely dangerous. However, you want to stick with plain water throughout this time. Some prolonged diets will allow some lemon slices to add a little more flavor but discourage adding other ingredients to your water.

Black coffee, black tea, and green tea can also be drank during the fasting periods. These are zero-calorie drinks without many side effects. However, you will want to watch the intake as the caffeine can lead to energy crashes.

Prolonged fasts can take more effort, as you have to think carefully about your days. Think about events that are coming up to avoid putting yourself in impossible situations.

Intermittent Fasting. Most people who fast will follow an intermittent fasting plan. This can be the 5:2 diet or a period of fasting for religion.

The idea is that you fast for a strict period and then eat during another strict period. For example, the Islamic religion has a period of fasting when the sun has risen, and eating is only allowed during the non-fasting periods.

You may also follow the 16-8 diet. This is when you fast for 16 hours a day and consume all the food you would usually eat in an 8-hour period. The idea is that during the 16-hour period, you will be able to burn all the calories and boost your cell health. Many of these diets have restrictions on the type of food you eat, too, so you constantly put your health first.

The 5:2 diet remains the most popular intermittent fasting plan and has proven successful for the health and weight loss efforts. This is a type alternate fasting plan, so moves from the allotted times to fasting on certain days. It’s not a strict fast in the way that you eat no food at all, but where you reduce the amount of food you eat.

During the 5:2 diet, you will reduce your calories to 600 or less for two days a week. The other five days, you can eat what you would like.

A true alternate fasting diet is when you eat one day and fast the next. You then eat the following day and fast the day after that. This continues until you decide to stop the plan.

Fasting and Weight Loss

Fasting and Weight Loss - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

It shouldn’t be that surprising that you can lose weight when fasting, but this shouldn’t be your only goal. The idea of fasting is to put your whole health first. The fasting diets aren’t long-term solutions, and many won’t have the maintenance plans needed to keep the weight off. You’ll need to learn more about the food that is good for you and the food that can lead to excessive weight gain.

If you’ve hit a weight loss plateau in your current plan, following a fast can be a good way to kick start things. You boost your metabolism and help to get it out of its funk. It’s possible to boost the fat burning, helping to give you more energy and support your overall health.

Fasting is also good for boosting your athletic performance. You get more energy to work out, and you’ll find it easier to build muscle. Your body burns the fat after getting into the ketogenic mode.

Getting Started with Fasting

Getting Started with Fasting - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

If you’ve starting with fasting, you’ll want to do it safely. One of the first things to do is talk to your doctor, especially if you have a medical issue. This will help to ensure your medical health is protected throughout.

Know what your goals are for fasting. You want immediate goals and long-term ones. This will help you determine the type of fast you want to do. An alternate day or intermittent fast is one of the easiest to follow for beginners. As you get used to the feelings, you can then look into the prolonged fasts for your health.

Create a journal and food tracker. This will help you time your periods and stay on track during the fasting periods. If you’re following something like the 5:2 diet, you’ll also be able to track the number of calories you’re eating.

It’s worth having someone around to keep you accountable. They don’t need to do the diet with you but be your check-in buddy.

The Risks of Fasting

The Risks of Fasting - The All-In-One Guide to Fasting

Of course, there are risks of fasting. If there weren’t, everyone would do it, right? You would never hear of people putting your eating choices down! You can avoid the risks if you follow your doctor’s recommendations and do a fasting diet safely.

The only people who should avoid fasts are those who can’t do them for a medical reason. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, now is not the time to follow a fast, as your baby needs the nutrients you’ll give them from your food. Wait until after your pregnancy and when you stop breastfeeding to start.

If you have a history of an eating disorder, fasting isn’t good for you. It can be triggering, especially if you have anorexia. Those who have gut issues and food sensitivities can also find the fasting is damaging. This can be linked to the types of food you’re getting when you’re not fasting or the way your digestive system reacts. Your doctor will discuss this with you if you have health problems.

Those with stress, anxiety or insomnia can also experience issues when fasting. You find yourself hungry and annoyed, which can boost the cortisol in the body. High levels of cortisol lead to stress, anxiety, insomnia and other health problems. You can also experience high blood pressure and panic attacks, sometimes setting off that fight or flight response in your body.

Therefore it’s so important to talk to your doctor first. If you experience any adverse side effects from fasting, consider whether it’s time to pull the plug. This is more than just feeling hungry but feeling your mental or physical health slip.

While fasting can be good, you need to listen to your body. If you don’t react when there’s a sign something is wrong, you’re putting your health at risk. It’s not worth putting your blood sugar and mental health at risk for the sake of a few potential benefits.

5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

Fat Consumption Image Design 1 - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

There are many theories about what’s good and bad for you. One thing that researchers have found is that too much-saturated fat is bad. It blocks the arteries and causes some heart and weight problems. Having a lot of visceral fat is also dangerous for your organs.

On top of that, fats are higher in calories than other food groups. If you eat too many fats, you will end up gaining weight much quicker, or it can stall your weight loss. This is because you’re eating the extra calories.

While you still want some healthy fats (as they’re good for your body and brain), you will want to cut down on the saturated fats you eat.

But sometimes you don’t know how much fat is in your food, do you? Reading the labels will help, but when you want to make quick choices or work off restaurant menus, you’ll need to take other steps to cut down on your fat consumption. Here are five ways that you can do it.

Opt for the Lean Cuts of Meat as Much as Possible

Opt for the Lean Cuts of Meat as Much as Possible - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

Before you buy the cuts of meat from the store or your local butcher, find out about how lean it is. Lean protein will have very little fat on it. But there are plenty of cuts out there that are high in fat, with the majority of it being the unhealthy saturated fats.

Sure, you can cut the fats off, but some of the fats are within the meat itself. You can’t get rid of that. You’ll usually notice if the meat is high in fat due to the amount that comes off during the cooking process. Lean cuts will give off very little in the baking, grilling or cooking process.

This will mean changing your buying methods in some cases. If you go to the butcher, you’ll need to ask for the lean cuts and find out more about the way the minces are made. In the grocery store, you’ll want to look for specific types of animals, cuts and the labels that say 5% or 10% fat. Anything under 5% is considered “Extra Lean” and the best option for you.

You can also make a change by switching the type of meat you eat. Pork and beef are the most common types to have the extra saturated fats. Therefore you’ll likely see the 5% beef mince but nothing on the chicken or turkey mince—they’re already low in fat. You can get lean versions of pork and beef, but opting for chicken, turkey, and seafood is going to be easier for you. All you then have to do is avoid the skinned poultry—but you can take the skin off and still benefit from the lean cuts.

If you’re not allergic to seafood, definitely start adding that into your diet 1-2 times per week. Not only is it low in fat, but it’s good for the brain health. It’s packed with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids, which will help support the brain tissue and cells, reducing the risks of the likes of dementia and heart disease.

This isn’t going to be easy for everyone, but it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to reduce your fat consumption. You’ll be surprised at how healthier your meals are with a little planning on the cuts of meat you get.

Switch Out the Whole Fat Dairy

Switch Out the Whole Fat Dairy - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

Whole fat milk, cheese, and yogurts may taste delicious, but they have the problem of the fats. Dairy products made with whole fat milk are packed with extra unsaturated fats. They come from the animal, and you can’t get rid of them through processing at home.

Instead, you’ll want to rely on the farmers who do the processing for you. Instead of drinking whole fat milk, switch for 2% or 1% milk. Going straight to 1% can be a challenge, as it doesn’t taste as creamy. In fact, some people never get along with the 1% milk. 2% milk is often that happy medium that works for many, and you can always try the 1% in small amounts slowly.

Over time, you’ll no longer notice the difference in your milk. You can also opt for low-fat cheeses and yogurts to benefit there, too. When opting for low-fat yogurts, find out the amount of sugar added to them. Sometimes, just opting for Greek or Natural yogurt is better than a low-fat option due to the sugar intake, which can be as bad as fat.

After a while, you can switch away from dairy altogether. Look out for almond or soy milk instead of cow’s or goat’s milk. Coconut milk is another option, although this has more fat than in almond or soy milk.

The benefit of the milk alternatives is that you get away from the lactose in dairy products. Some of us are intolerant to milk alternatives, which can leave us bloated and uncomfortable. Getting almond, soy or coconut milk escapes that problem, so you’re left feeling healthier mentally while being healthier physically.

These milk alternatives can sometimes have a strange taste at first, especially when you use them in your tea or coffee. You’ll eventually get used to them in your diet and wonder why you even avoided them in the first place. They even have the calcium and other nutrients that dairy products have (sometimes extra amounts of them).

Soy milk is made from soybeans. Soy is one of the only complete proteins outside the animal world, which means you’re still stocking up on all the nutrients that you may fear you lose by giving up milk. Almond milk doesn’t offer all the same benefits but is low in fat, calories, and sugars.

If you still want to use some cheese, you can also make a switch to the stronger tastes. You don’t need to use as much of the cheese, so you can stick to whole fat cheeses without having to put up with the excess fats. This is an excellent way to use cheese in cooking, so you get to useless for the taste.

Get Rid of the Junk Food

Get Rid of the Junk Food - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

Junk food offers absolutely no benefits to you at all. Well, no nutritional benefits. You may feel like they get rid of that craving for burgers or pizzas, but all you’re doing is adding extra saturated fats to your diets.

Burgers, hot dogs, pizza and more are made up of saturated fats. They will use the unhealthiest cuts of meat because they’re cheap. In fact, some will barely have any of the good meat at all. Most companies get a mixture of all the leftover cuts of the meats and put them into a large bowl, mixing and compacting them together, so it looks like you’ve got a good amount of the lean meat. Even lean burgers aren’t the greatest compared to the better cuts of meat.

If you’re going to opt for burgers, try making your own. Get the chicken or turkey mince and create your patties with some herbs and spices. You’ll start to wonder why you even bothered with eating burgers at McDonald’s, Burger King, and other places.

But what about the restaurants? They all have calories on their menus, don’t they? Surely the low-calorie options are good for you. Well, while they may be low in calories, they may also be high in fat. You end up with less food that you would have done if you had something healthier with more calories.

This doesn’t mean you can’t eat out at all. Think about the places that offer the best food first. Sushi restaurants are excellent since they offer seafood instead of fatty meats. Another option is to go for salads, the best cuts of meats for steaks, and other similar dishes when you choose to eat out. Eating healthily doesn’t have to be boring, as you can get salads bursting with flavors.

Watch out for the dressings when you do order salads. Ask for them to be placed on the side. You then get full control over the amount you pour over your dish.

Remember this is about cutting down on your fat consumption. You can eat some fat, and you don’t need to cut out all junk food forever. That would be unrealistic since you wouldn’t likely be happy when you go out with friends. Take stock of the number of times you eat out, especially at burger joints and similar.

As you cut down on the amount of junk food you eat, you’ll find you crave it less. In fact, as you change for a healthier diet, you can find that you don’t enjoy the junk food as much as you used to. This isn’t just great for your health, but also for your bank balance!

Stock Up on Other Proteins

Stock Up on Other Proteins - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

Meat is a good way to get protein into your diet, but not the only way. In fact, you want to look at the number of proteins you’re getting from meat and consider other options. Not only will this reduce your fat consumption, but reduce the chances of getting meat from unhealthy sources (like those that have antibiotics that pass into you).

There are many other proteins out there to give you everything you need. Legumes, beans, and soy are all the most popular, but you can also choose quinoa. Along with soy, quinoa is a complete protein. This means it’s packed with all nine essential amino acids, and this is the type of protein you want to get into your diet. The only other source is through the meat. The great thing is soy and quinoa are extremely easy to source in the grocery store now.

You can also stock up on protein through nuts if you’re not allergic. Yes, they have some fats, but again you’re not cutting out all fat. You’re meant to be cutting down on fat consumption. Nuts are full of unsaturated fats, so they’re the healthy kind. In a small amount, they’ll do your whole body some good. Again, this is as long as you’re not allergic to them.

Protein is good to help leave you feeling satisfied. It breaks down in the body slowly, similarly to fat. You will feel full sooner and for longer, so there’s less need to snack.

You can also use protein supplements, such as whey protein powders. This has some lactose in it, so you’ll want to look at other forms of protein powder. There is a soy form, which is excellent for those who want to cut out all dairy.

If you want to take this slowly, start by cutting down on the amount of meat you eat. Opt for one day a week where you go completely meatless. This is realistic, and even if you don’t want to become complete vegetarians or vegans, you will put your health first. On other days, you can reduce the amount of meat that you add to your soups and stews, so you use more legumes, peas, beans and other high-fiber, high-protein foods.

Make a Few Sensible Swaps

Make a Few Sensible Swaps - 5 Ways You Can Cut Down on Fat Consumption

The final way to cut down is by making some swaps in your home. There are certain foods or ingredients you buy that are packed with saturated fats, but they don’t have to be. And you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out by not opting for them.

For example, it’s time to get rid of the vegetable oil or corn oil. This offers no benefit to your body. Opt for healthier oils instead. Olive oil is one of the most popular because it’s cheaper than many others. While Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the best, you can get any olive oil to reduce your saturated fat intake.

Other oil options include rapseed oil, avocado oil, almond oil, and coconut oil. The idea is to step away from the processed junk and opt for cleaner, healthier versions.

Next on the list is cream. If you find a recipe that calls for cream, you can make a switch for Greek yogurt, natural yogurt, and even crème Fraiche. They give similar tastes and consistencies without the extra fat in the cream. It’s a quick swap that you will never taste the difference in your baking.

Pastry tends to be high in fat, but that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of it completely. You can still make your pies, but you will want to make them slightly different. Instead of making the pastry base, opt for the pastry top. You can still have the delicious filling. In fact, you get more of the filling, since the base isn’t taking up space in the pan.

Sometimes it’s in the method of cooking. If you fry your food, you will use extra oil in the pan. That has nowhere to go, except for back into your dish. When you choose to grill or bake, the fat from the meat (for example) can escape out the way. You also don’t need the oil to cook in. Step away from the deep fat fryer! You’re just adding extra fat to your potatoes and other ingredients that way!

Butter is another problem area for many. While butter is often viewed as healthier than margarine, there is the issue with the saturated fats. You’ll want to look at the vegan spreads instead. There are plenty of options that are made from avocado and olive oil to help reduce your saturated fat intake.

Reduce, Don’t Cut Out Completely

Your fat consumption needs to be reduced. This isn’t a food group that you want to completely cut out of your diet, as your body needs it. However, the body needs the right type of fats. Opt for more unsaturated fats in your diet and work them in moderation.

For example, two tablespoons of olive oil a day is enough to support a healthy body and brain. It isn’t that much. Your body doesn’t need the vegetable oil instead. The saturated fats offer no nutritional benefits and don’t taste better in the long term.

It’s time to make a change to your lifestyle. With the five simple changes above, you can reduce your fat consumption considerably. You’ll find it easier to lose weight, feel less bloated, and reduce your risks of heart disease.

The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Everyone knows what noodles are. They are the long and thin strips which are easy versatile and easy to cook. There are different types of noodles out there, but not all of them are healthy. In this article, we’ll focus on instant noodles, a type of fast food which doesn’t need much time or effort to prepare. All one must do is unwrap the noodles, place them in hot water then add the seasonings once they’ve cooked.

Sure, cooking instant noodles is easy, but that doesn’t mean that people should consume them frequently. If a person eats a package of instant noodles occasionally, that’s fine. But always substituting healthy meals (which take a lot more time and effort to prepare) for instant noodles isn’t advisable. People who do this may have a higher risk of developing health problems over time.

Instant noodles are processed foods which people should avoid as much as possible. This is because indulging in them too much will surely make one sick. Still not convinces? Well, here are the 13 reasons why people should stop eating instant noodles today:

Instant Noodles Don’t Contain Essential Nutrients

Instant noodles don t contain essential nutrients - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Sure, instant noodles taste great. In fact, they come in different flavors, so people can choose which one to cook then eat. But constantly consuming instant noodles would lead to a nutrient deficiency in the body. This is because these types of noodles don’t really contain any of the essential nutrients. When a person doesn’t get the right number of vitamins and minerals in the body, he might start experiencing some negative side effects. These include fatigue, dizziness, restlessness, and more.

The body needs vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to function properly. Without these, the person would have a higher risk of becoming weak and developing different illnesses. Instant noodles either have very minimal contents of these nutrients or none.

There’s an Increased Risk of Developing Metabolic Syndrome

According to studies, women who consumed instant noodles frequently had an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome. This refers to a set of conditions which include abnormal cholesterol levels, excess abdominal fats, and high levels of blood sugar, and blood pressure.

This is mainly because of the chemical content of the convenient treats. These chemicals have the tendency to mess with the hormones of females. Women who develop MS may be more susceptible to other diseases. These include chronic ailments, heart-related diseases, diabetes, and more. So, for women it’s better to consume “real food” which is healthier rather than instant noodles which are just easier to prepare.

Instant Noodles May Cause Rectal Cancer

Instant noodles may cause rectal cancer - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

When a person consumes instant noodles, it takes a long time for the digestive system to process. This means that the noodles remain in the stomach for a longer time. This may lead to constipation. Then when the noodles are converted into feces, they still stay in the colon for a longer time. And this may indirectly be the cause of rectal cancer.

Instant Noodles May Cause Digestive Problems

Speaking of the digestive system, these noodles may also cause digestive problems. According to studies, instant noodles take a long time to digest. When the researchers inserted a camera into the participants, they found out that after more than 2 hours, the noodles haven’t broken down yet! They were still very much distinguishable inside the digestive tract. Because of this, the digestive tract must work harder to the point of convulsing just to process the instant noodles.

Instant Noodles May Cause High Blood Pressure

Instant noodles may cause high blood pressure - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Here’s another reason not to eat too much of these noodles. Instant noodles typically contain a lot of sodium. Because of this, it may have negative effects on the body, especially for those who have a sensitivity to salt. When people consume instant noodles frequently, it may lead to an increase in their blood pressure. This, in turn, may lead to more serious health issues.

Instant Noodles May Hasten the Aging Process

Instant noodles contain a lot of fats and other preservatives. All these components slow down the process of oxidation. This, in turn, would have an adverse effect on a person’s endocrine system. And this would result in a hastening of the aging process. So those who don’t want to look older than they are should abstain from eating these convenient products too much.

Instant Noodles Contain a Lot of MSG

Instant noodles contain a lot of MSG - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

A lot of people know that instant noodles contain a lot of MSG. Monosodium glutamate or MSG is one of the most harmful ingredients out there. However, manufacturers use it often to enhance the flavors of their food products. MSG is a type of neurotoxin and to some people, it has the potential to be extremely addictive. MSG is a common ingredient in instant noodles as well as other types of processed foods. Some manufacturers even try to conceal the presence of the ingredient by using different names for it.

According to studies, the body makes use of an amino acid called glutamate as a transmitter of nerve impulses in the brain. Also, there are tissues in the body which are glutamate-responsive. But when the body gets introduced to MSG, it may cause abnormal functions of the glutamate receptors. And this has been associated with specific neurological disorders. So, consuming too much MSG may cause a lot of damage to the body and all its systems.

May Lead to Being Overweight

One of the main causes of obesity and being overweight is consuming noodles (at least, too many noodles). Noodles, particularly the instant variety, contains a lot of sodium and fats. These components cause the body to retain water. This leads to obesity, being overweight, and other dangerous conditions.

Instant Noodles May Cause Delayed Development in Children

Instant noodles may case delayed development in children - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Instant noodles may also be harmful to children. When a child consumes these noodles regularly, it may cause delayed development. This is because the ingredients in the processed food product may disrupt their body’s natural ability to absorb nutrients. Since they don’t contain the essential nutrients, it may cause an interruption on the mental or physical progress of children.

Contains Propylene Glycol

One common ingredient in instant noodles is “propylene glycol.” This ingredient is quite harmful because it has an anti-freeze characteristic. Manufacturers use this ingredient because it retains moisture to prevent the noodles from drying out. However, it can weaken the body’s immune system. Propylene glycol gets absorbed easily, and it builds up in the heart, liver, and kidneys. Over time, it can cause damages and abnormalities to those major organs.

Contains Other Chemicals

Aside from MSG and propylene glycol, instant noodles also contain other chemicals. In fact, when a person reads the ingredients of an average pack of noodles, he might not understand half of what it says. Consuming too many noodles may lead to different illnesses because of the effects these chemicals will have on the body.

Contains Too Much Sodium

These processed foods also contain a lot of sodium. Maybe therefore the noodles taste so good? The FDA recommends that a person should not consume more than 2,300 mg of salt each day. Unfortunately, an average pack of instant noodles would typically contain more than half of the recommended daily intake of sodium.

This means that the person would have already consumed more than half of the sodium he needs in just one meal. And in some cases, some people even eat 2 packs of these noodles a day! Consuming too much sodium may lead to hypertension, kidney damage, heart disease, and more.

Instant Noodles May be Harmful to Pregnant Women

Instant noodles may be harmful to pregnant women - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Finally, instant noodles may also be harmful to pregnant women. This is especially true in the early stages of pregnancy when the fetus is just developing. According to studies, frequently eating instant noodles might inhibit the development of the baby and might even lead to a miscarriage. Although more research is needed to support this fact, this type of processed food still isn’t recommended for pregnant women especially since they lack the essential nutrients.

What Happens to the Body When a Person Consumes Instant Noodles?

What happens to the body when a person consumes instant noodles - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

A lot of people enjoy instant noodles. Partly because there are different varieties to choose from and partly because they’re extremely easy to prepare. Instant noodles are a very popular choice for lunch or dinner especially for busy people who don’t have the time to prepare a home-cooked meal. Of course, most people don’t consider this as a healthy food. And most people don’t think that this convenient food option is bad for the body. To most, eating instant noodles is just like eating a burger from a fast food joint.

But has anyone ever wondered what happens to the body when a person consumes instant noodles? There was an experiment conducted wherein they used a pill-sized camera to see inside the body after a person eats a pack of instant noodles. Through the camera, they were able to see what went on in the stomach as well as in the digestive tract.

Apparently, instant noodles don’t break down easily, not even after a few hours of digestion. Even after about 2 hours, the noodles remain intact and very much recognizable. That is as compared to homemade noodles which get digested more easily.

This means that the processed noodles can have a negative effect on the digestive system. Consuming the noodles would force the digestive system to work harder and for a longer time, which causes strain on it. When food stays in the digestive tract for a long time, it will also affect the body’s ability to absorb nutrients. Unfortunately, instant noodles don’t really contain any healthy nutrients. Instead, they contain a lot of harmful chemicals which the body will end up absorbing.

What Should You Eat Instead?

What should you eat instead - The 13 Reasons Why You Should Stop Eating Noodles Today

Instant noodles are popular all over the world. They’re convenient, delicious, and can be enjoyed as a meal or as a filling snack. However, we now know that these seemingly harmless products are, in fact, quite harmful to the health. This is especially true for people who consume a lot of instant noodles or those who eat them too often.

Instant noodles are a type of processed food which contains a lot of chemicals and unhealthy ingredients. Because of this, they’re considered as one of the “junk foods.” So, what should people do now? Well, it’s probably okay to consume instant noodles occasionally. But to satisfy the cravings, one needs to learn about healthier alternatives to the convenient noodles. Consider consuming these foods instead:

Atta Noodles

These types of noodles would give one the same kind of satisfaction as eating instant noodles. But they’re good for the health and are easier on the digestive system too.

Cutlets

One can make different kinds of cutlets at home. They’re filling, delicious, and can be prepared in advance then stored in the refrigerator for easy preparation when the craving strikes.

Dark Chocolate

This is a great mood booster, and it’s beneficial to the body too. And who doesn’t love chocolate?

Dried Fruits

One can snack on dried figs, raisins, or other fruit varieties. They are nutritious, and they will make one feel full for a longer time.

Peanuts

These are available everywhere, and they contain proteins and vitamins. Peanuts can also help fight-off malnutrition because of their health benefits.

Potato Chips (Homemade)

If the person makes the potato chips at home, he would ensure that they’re healthy. Because going for the processed chips would be like consuming instant noodles anyway.

Roasted Chickpeas

These are convenient because one can carry them wherever they go. And when they have a craving, they take out the chickpeas and start munching!

Wheat Flour Cookies

These are made from a finer type of flour than the traditional cookies. They’re filling, and so they can be a great alternative to a pack of instant noodles.

In fact, there are a lot of other healthy alternatives out there. These are just some examples, but one can think of others. The key is to choose natural foods and stay away from those which contain synthetic ingredients.

9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

60864f29813774b8a0c848e36d7d2674 2000x1200 - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

Black Garlic Image Design 1 - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

Most of you likely use garlic in your cooking, but it will be the white version. Black garlic can look off-putting for many, purely because you’re not used to seeing it. However, it’s starting to become more popular in the Western World because of how good it is for you.

Black garlic has been used in the Eastern World for centuries, both in food and for medicinal purposes. It remains a popular alternate form of medicine, especially when it comes to treating gastronomical problems. It also has some other benefits—often overlooked by the Western world.

Black garlic gets its color and taste from the fermentation process, which is done under strict-controlled humidity and heat. It takes at least a month to get the exact look, taste, and formation. Because of the process, you get the following nine body and brain health benefits from black garlic.

Boost Your Immunity Against Disease and Infection

Boost Your Immunity Against Disease and Infection - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

White garlic is already known for its immune system benefits, and that just multiplies with black garlic. In fact, black garlic can make the white garlic more beneficial to the health, so it’s worth using both in your cooking.

Let’s start with the infection protection. Black garlic contains S-acetylcysteine, which helps the body absorb more allicin. The allicin is found in both black and white garlic and is the component that helps with the fighting of a variety of infections. The immune system gets extra support against fungal, bacterial, and microbial infections. Since it’s a natural compound, the bacteria and micro-bacteria can’t build an immunity to them, so you don’t get resistant forms in your body as you do with synthetic antibacterial medication.

Then there’s the benefit of protection against disease. Your body needs antioxidants to help support the immune system, and you get them in all forms of garlic. However, black garlic contains double the amount that white garlic does, which means far more benefits for fighting off diseases.

Those who suffer from regular colds or catch the flu that passes around every year will gain some benefits. The antioxidants and allicin will help to fight against various viruses and funguses that spread. You can prevent the formation of the colds and help to tackle the diseases when you do start seeing symptoms.

Antioxidants are also powerful for many other reasons, offering more benefits, which we’ll move into shortly. Just keep in mind that black garlic has extra compared to white garlic, so will offer benefits on a larger scale than what you’re already used to.

Support to Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia

There are many people who worry about suffering from dementia and other similar problems in the future. Brain diseases aren’t understood that much, and it’s hard to guess how to prevent them from occurring. That is especially the case for Alzheimer’s, which also has a genetic link to it.

Many researchers have found a link between dementia and dying brain cells, which means you need to find a way to support the health of the cells. You’re born with all your brain cells, so you can’t produce more. Protecting the ones, you have is essential and black garlic helps with that.

Antioxidants are the key to this. When you consume antioxidants, you can reduce the amount of oxidative stress that happens on the body. This helps to prevent the inflammation in the brain and damage to the cells. Your brain’s connections improve, and you keep the blood flowing. Your memory is improved, along with other cognitive functions.

Yes, garlic and other foods that contain antioxidants can help, but black garlic is extremely potent in them. You’ll want to add this to your food to help reduce the risks of dementia and similar conditions in the future.

Moreover, you also get the support of the blood flow. The circulation is improved (more on this soon) and that means more oxygen gets around your body. When your brain gets more oxygen, it becomes more alert, and you’ll find it easier to focus. Not only do you reduce the risk of future problems, but you protect against short-term mental problems.

Reduce the Symptoms and Development of Chronic Disorders

Reduce the Symptoms and Development of Chronic Disorders - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

With the antioxidants and other immunity benefits, you can help to reduce the amount of inflammation that occurs in your body. This is essential for those with chronic conditions, including chronic pain and digestive issues.

The black garlic will help to improve the blood flow to your body and boost the infection-fighting abilities. Your immune system won’t be triggered by various things in your body, meaning there’s no need for inflammation when you’re not ill. It’s the inflammation that causes pain when there’s been no trauma, especially when it comes to joint and nerve pain.

It’s possible to reduce the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain disorders.

At the same time, you get rid of the reason for cell damage—the free radicals. Antioxidants help to prevent the development and spread of free radicals, keeping your body in tip-top shape.

And when you do get chronic pain, black garlic will help to get rid of it naturally. It works as a natural anti-inflammatory, reducing the pressure on your nerves. This will help to keep your stress levels to a minimum, which constant, unexplainable pain can cause. Higher stress levels lead to more inflammation and more pain, so keeping the stress under control is essential.

More Enjoyable to Eat

There are mental benefits to eating black garlic. Due to the fermentation process, the smell and taste can be lessened, which helps more people consume the ingredient. It’s the smell and taste that can put some people off from eating it.

When you feel like you’re enjoying your meal more, you will naturally feel happier. It helps you feel satisfied with your meal, which then helps you stick to whatever diet plan you’ve set. There’s no need to feel like you’re missing out.

This then offers the positive mental benefits elsewhere in life. When you’re satisfied with a meal, you’re more likely to eat less throughout the day. It’s possible to curb some of the sugar cravings because you don’t feel the negative emotions that can set off the cravings.

On top of that, you have the benefits of getting more health benefits. Mentally you feel like you are putting your body and brain first, which then helps to boost your mental health benefits. You’re more positive about the steps you’re taking to look after your body, which helps to keep the stress levels to a minimum and offers further benefits to your health.

High-stress levels aren’t just bad for inflammation. They cause your blood pressure to increase, disrupt your hormone balance and can lead to heart, brain and skin problems. By keeping the stress levels down, you will help your overall health.

Did you know that the strong smell of white garlic can come through your skin? Even if you manage to get it off your breath with gum, you can end up with the pungent smell through your skin. This is one of the main reasons why people don’t eat garlic. They don’t want the body odor and have people wondering what the hell they’ve eaten or why they haven’t washed.

By eating something that doesn’t give off the strong odor, you can to avoid this strong smell. This helps you further support your mental health, as you don’t worry as much about the smell coming from the skin.

Treat Type II Diabetes

Treat Type II Diabetes - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

Those who have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes can finally add something to their diet that will help the condition. While it’s not a replacement for medications prescribed by the doctor, it is an excellent way to help support your overall health.

Uncontrolled diabetes leads to some other health problems. It has a direct effect on your organ health, causing issues for blood circulation and nutrients passing throughout the body. You can end up with gangrene and the loss of limbs if you continue to allow your diabetes to remain uncontrolled. Vision and oral health issues are also major problems and side effects.

Plus, you can feel the mental health benefits. It’s hard living with the condition that can seem humiliating to some. Your stress levels increase, and you can end up with other health problems.

So, you want to get it under control, and black garlic is the way forward. This again is due to the antioxidants in the body. The antioxidants will help to reduce the oxidative stress that occurs due to the higher stress levels. It can help to reduce some of the nerve damage that can occur due to the oxidative stress, limiting the health issues that are linked to uncontrolled diabetes.

The garlic is also low in sugar, which means you’re not contributing to the blood sugar problems. You can help to minimize the effects and even set yourself on the path to reverse the condition.

Improve Your Cholesterol Levels

Various foods we eat lead to an increase in cholesterol levels. There are two types of cholesterol: good and bad. Most of the fatty foods we eat lead to an increase in the bad cholesterol, which is linked to the likes of heart disease, stroke, and heart attacks. Premature death is another serious side effect of high cholesterol levels.

Even high good cholesterol levels can cause a problem. You want to keep both to a healthy level, and you can do that by adding black garlic to the diet. The garlic doesn’t contain any cholesterol at all, so you’re not contributing to either of the levels.

Of course, it’s not a miracle cure. You will need to look at your overall diet to help keep the cholesterol levels to a minimum, but the black garlic will certainly help.

This also leads us to the next benefit.

Extra Support for the Heart Health

Extra Support for the Heart Health - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

Raw black garlic is especially good for the health of the heart, and not just for the cholesterol levels. Studies have shown that black garlic (and white to a degree) helps to reduce the amount of homocysteine in the bloodstream. This is an amino acid that can cause damage to the arterial walls. As the arterial walls become damaged, the amount of cholesterol that collects in them increases.

So, not only is the black garlic minimizing the amount of cholesterol in the body but is also reducing the areas that the cholesterol can hide.

On top of that, you increase the amount of hydrogen sulfide in the body. This is a good thing, as it helps to boost the amount of blood that circulates your system. This supports your blood pressure, offering more benefits for the health of your heart.

It’s possible to reduce the amount of clotting that happens within the bloodstream, without getting the lack of clotting to a dangerous level that causes internal bleeding. You can keep he blood flowing smoothly, so it puts the heart under less pressure.

And when the heart works properly, and the blood circulates, all the other organs work more effectively, as we’ve already seen. Your brain especially benefits.

Help to Repair the Liver

The liver is one of those organs that will heal itself, but there’s only so much that it can do on its own. Like an elastic band, the healing elements can become permanently stretched, and the liver can’t return to what it once was. Liver disease is a major concern, but there is some good news.

Patients who have suffered from liver disease may see some benefits when using black garlic. This is especially the case for those who have suffered liver damage due to alcohol misuse. However, it’s worth noting that the current studies have been carried out on rodents, and there are major differences between rodents and humans.

It’s important to still look after the body. There’s no telling if the human liver cells react in the same way. However, the antioxidants and other health benefits are promising. There’s at least the chance that the deterioration may slow down, especially when used with an overall healthy diet.

May Prevent Cancer

May Prevent Cancer - 9 Brain and Body Benefits of Black Garlic

This shouldn’t be a surprising benefit. Studies are still being carried out, but so far, many results are positive. This is especially the case for colon cancer.

The antioxidant levels in black garlic help to make this ingredient a super food. With the high antioxidant levels, the free radicals don’t have the chance to damage the cells in the body. This prevents the formation of cancerous cells, and the development of these cells throughout the body. It’s possible that cancer can be prevented and the progression slowed down.

One study has shown that black garlic can help to slow down the pathways of colon cancer growth. This prevents it from getting worse, helping to make treatments more effective. Again, the studies are still in the early stages, but they are extremely positive.

Will You Add Black Garlic to Your Diet?

It’s time to look at all the ingredients you can add to your diet. If you have the choice between white and black garlic, always opt for the black. This is far more beneficial, especially when it comes to the antioxidant levels. You’ll support your body against oxidative stress, which can help to reduce the number of health problems you suffer from.

While some of the studies are still being carried out, results have been positive. Plus, the garlic is tasty, and there are no side effects, so you might as well add it to your diet. Whether you opt for it cooked, raw or even in tea, you’ll gain mentally and physically.

10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

476a581ae63f4eeca865b800d2ad0f10 2000x1200 - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

Weightloss Management Image Design 1 - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

The term “millennials” has become very popular these days. This refers to the young adults in the 21st century. Nowadays, millennials have a bad reputation for being too laid back and spoiled. In some cases, this is true. Of course, it would still depend on the person and what he does with his own life.

A lot of times, millennials want things to come easier to them. For instance, they want to lose weight, but they don’t put in the effort to achieve this. Sitting in front of the television while munching on chips and drinking soda really won’t help a person lose weight. It doesn’t even matter what age the person is. The best thing to do is to adapt healthy eating habits and work up a sweat. Unfortunately, just these two steps would seem like torture to teens and young adults who live sedentary lifestyles.

Fortunately, there are some things even lazy millennials can do to for weight loss management. In doing these things, they can start feeling better and looking better too. Implementing small adjustments in the diet can promote weight loss without having to put in much effort. One would just have to choose healthier food options then eat them! They can also drink more water or eat a healthy salad right before meals to prevent overeating.

According to studies, it’s a lot more difficult for millennials to lose weight than it is for their parents. So, their lazy attitude isn’t all to blame. Even if they followed the same diet and exercise regimen as a person of the same age back in the 70s, they would still weigh about 10% more! Although researchers know this fact, they’re not sure why it’s true. But they do believe that it’s because of an increased exposure to artificial components and chemicals in the food eaten and, in the environment, as well. In any case, millennials should still consider using even the simplest tips for weight loss management. These are:

Hide or Eliminate Your Guilty Food Vices

Ever heard the saying “out of sight, out of mind?” The same thing goes with food vices. Studies have shown that people are more likely to indulge in snacks and treats which are placed in transparent containers than those placed in opaque ones. So rather than keep these guilty food vices in plain sight, house them in containers which will conceal them completely. Either that or eliminate them from the kitchen completely! This is an easy trick that diet experts swear by!

Focus on Your Sleep and Your Food

Focus on your sleep and your food - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

This is another easy trick, but its bad news for couch potatoes or those who are “too busy” to sit down and eat their food. Having a late-night habit of watching too much television may be sabotaging one’s weight loss efforts. Studies have shown that the blue light that comes from the TV and other electronic devices may hinder the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. This, in turn, has a negative effect on the quality of sleep and the weight loss too. People who get great-quality sleep each night benefit a lot because it promotes the production of hormones which burn fat. So, one should prioritize sleep if he’s trying to shed some weight.

Millennials should also focus on their food intake more. Nowadays, people feel like they don’t have time to take breaks to eat their meals. Because of this, they end up eating their meals at their desk or while doing something else. Unfortunately, this isn’t a good idea. As much as possible, people should take time to eat and focus on what they’re eating. This will help the person become more aware of what they’re eating. They can focus on the taste of the food, how much they’re eating, if they’re already full, and more. This, in turn, can prevent over-eating which will lead to weight loss.

Drink More Water

Drinking more water doesn’t just promote weight loss, it has a lot of health benefits too. According to studies, people mistake their thirst for hunger 6 out of 10 times. This means that drinking a glass of water can help quell the hunger pangs felt and will also help the person slim down. Even if one isn’t thirsty, it’s wise to drink a glass or two of water before eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This will help make the person feel fuller which will lead to eating fewer calories. Water will give the feeling of fullness and will also help displace calories which people usually spend on other beverages which are laden with calories.

Fond of Milk? Stay Away From Milk Alternatives

Fond of milk Stay away from milk alternatives - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

Nowadays different types of milk alternatives are becoming more and more popular. People are loving hemp and almond milk. However, it’s best to stick with fortified cow’s milk that’s rich in vitamin D. That is if you’re not lactose intolerant. One can drink the milk, add it to cereal, mix it into the morning cup of coffee, and more. It doesn’t matter how one consumes the milk, if he does it!

When it comes to milk, it’s ideal to drink at least 2 cups each day. This is because the calcium and vitamin D in milk can help accelerate the weight loss. Aside from this, drinking milk can also maintain the health of the bones for life. When a person reaches his thirties, the density of his bones is already set. So, anyone who wants to have strong bones even as they grow old should start getting the essential nutrients as early as possible. Although calcium is the best component to maintain bone health, it’s useless without an adequate amount of vitamin D.

Choose Healthy Eating Habits Over Fad Diets

Diets are also becoming trendy these days especially with millennials. Specifically, low-carb and vegan diets are becoming all the rage these days. However, such diets don’t guarantee weight loss for all types of people. Sure, cutting down on dairy products or carbohydrates can help one cut down on calories. But doing this may also lead to lower nutrient intake. This may be okay while a person is young, but it may take a toll on the body as the person grows older.

People who want to lose weight shouldn’t eliminate specific food groups entirely. Instead, they should focus on limiting or reducing their portions. They should also focus on eating the nutrient-dense versions of the foods they want to avoid.

Skip the Beer

Skip the beer - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

Drinking beer occasionally and moderation won’t affect one’s waistline much. But when it becomes a habit, then it can start affecting the metabolic rate. When a person binge-drinks on beer, it will start slowing down his metabolic rate. When a person drinks alcohol, then his body has the task of breaking down the beverage.

This process takes precedence over breaking down any other food he’s eaten. And so, the food just stays there, waiting for the digestive system to start breaking it down. So even if beer seems like a harmless beverage, it makes the entire metabolic process slower. In fact, there are researchers who claim that drinking too much can significantly decrease the body’s ability to burn fat!

Try to Avoid Late-Night Snacking

Here’s another trick that will work wonders especially for those who are guilty of this habit. After dark, it’s important to stay away from foods which are greasy and laden with carbohydrates. It may seem challenging, but with enough determination, even millennials can do this!

If a person really can’t avoid late-night snacking, then he should choose what to eat wisely. It’s best to eat protein-rich foods instead of the carbohydrate-filled, greasy ones. Staying away from carbohydrates at night can flip the body’s “fat-burning” switch. So, to stay on track regarding weight loss management, keep some healthy midnight snacks on hand in case one gets hungry at night. If one can avoid this habit though, all the better!

Eating Processed Foods is Never a Good Idea

Eating processed foods is never a good idea - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

When it comes to processed foods, which contain artificial ingredients and preservatives, learn to say no! Research shows that processed foods may confuse the body. When a person consumes such foods, the body expects calories which just aren’t there. And so, it disrupts the ability of the body to regulate the food eaten. This leads to “metabolic derangements” such as increased glucose levels or a poor insulin response. This, in turn, might lead to more fat storage and other harmful conditions.

Never Skip Meals

While people are still young, skipping meals may have helped them lose weight faster. But after a person reaches a certain age, the body doesn’t respond well to such habits. The more a person tries to avoid meals or restricts the diet, the more his body will store fats. Therefore, it’s important for the metabolism, energy, and overall health for a person to eat something every 5 hours or so.

Make Fitness Your Priority

Make fitness your priority - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

Finally, millennials (and all other people for that matter) should make fitness their priority. By far, this is the most difficult tip in the list. People should consciously make fitness a big part of their lifestyle as adults. To do this, one can start a workout routine. Join a fitness class if it will be more motivating. And it’s important to treat each workout schedule like an important appointment. This will make it easier to show up and put effort into the weight loss plan. It may seem hard, but in the long-run, it will really be beneficial for the person.

Watch What You Eat!

Watch what you eat - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

When it comes to weight loss management, one of the most important things a person needs to do is to watch what he eats. There are certain foods which people can choose to replace the unhealthy versions they’re used to eating. Look at these food options:

Sweet Potatoes

A lot of people enjoy eating potatoes, but they usually go for the white version. This is because they’re really tasty and commonly used in dishes or as sides (think French fries and mashed potatoes). But substituting white potatoes for sweet potatoes would be a lot more beneficial. Sweet potatoes are healthier because they’re high in potassium and fiber, two nutrients which have a lot of benefits to the body.

Organic Meat

Avoid eating burgers at fast food places. Instead, you can make your patties at home using organic beef that’s also grass-fed. In doing this, one will save a lot of calories while giving the creatine and protein levels a boost. These two components promote weight loss and support the health of joints and tendons as the person ages. Another benefit of organic meat is that it doesn’t contain artificial growth hormones which can also contribute to weight gain.

Liver

Usually, women in their twenties (the millennials now) don’t get adequate amounts of folate. And those who consume a lot of alcohol aren’t even able to absorb the nutrient because of their excessive drinking. Insufficient amounts of folate may have a negative effect on a woman’s health. It may also lead to weight gain and an increased risk of developing diseases. People can acquire folate naturally by consuming liver. Also, they can get this nutrient in high amounts from navy beans (the white variety).

Nuts

One easy way to prevent weight gain is to eat some nuts. Studies have shown that people who eat nuts have a lesser likelihood of becoming overweight. That is as compared to those who don’t eat them. This is because nuts make people feel fuller for a longer time.

Fish

This is another healthy food millennials should start eating regularly. Most types of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients have a lot of health benefits. Also, eating fish regularly will also support weight loss as it’s frequently part of effective weight loss diets.

Also, Watch What You Do

Also watch what you do - 10 Weightloss Management Tips for Lazy Millennials

Aside from watching what they eat, people should also watch what they do. Pairing a healthy diet with healthy habits will surely help with weight loss management. Here are some fun activities one can do to help with the weight loss plan:

Text or Email a Friend

A recent study showed that when dieters receive a motivational text or email regularly, they’re more likely to stick with their diets and healthy habits. So, dieters can help each other out by sending texting or emailing each other to keep them motivated and well-reminded.

Shop With Tunes

People who go shopping for food while listening to their favorite upbeat tunes are less likely to place unnecessary or unwanted items from their shopping carts. Also, listening to fast music can make people shop faster and with a purpose.

Don’t Accept All the Invites

Millennials are fond of going out with friends for brunches, dinners, and drinks. Although this is a great way to keep their social life alive, they shouldn’t accept all the invitations they get. Occasionally, decline the invite to go out. This is especially true for those who are following a certain diet.

Modify the Dinnerware

Finally, it’s important to make modifications to the dinnerware in the home. Eating from smaller plates would force one to eat smaller portions. So those who want to lose weight should consider purchasing smaller-sized plates.

What’s the Difference Between a Juicer and a Blender?

What%E2%80%99s the Difference Between a Juicer and a Blender - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

When you initially think about buying a juicer, you may think about a blender. The two appliances often get confused, but the terms aren’t interchangeable. Both are very different and used for different needs.

The clue is in the names of the two appliances. Let’s start with a blender. This will blend anything that you put into the machine down to a paste or a liquid— depending on the amount of water, milk, or yogurt that you put in with the other ingredients. This is the way that many people make their smoothies, ice creams, and other thick and creamy drinks and foods.

Blenders make it possible to use the whole fruit or vegetables. Everything is broken down, including any zest or pulp that you add to the mix. Everything is completely pulverized.

When it comes to juicers, the machine will just take the juice out of the fruit or vegetable that you use. The pulp and all other elements are removed and placed in a different container. You have the choice of adding that pulp back into the juice if you want, but you don’t need to.

The juicers will extract the nutrients from the ingredients and add them to the juice. Unfortunately, you also get plenty of sugars, and we’ll move onto why this can be a negative issue in a few minutes.

Because you’ve just got the liquid, juicers tend to be thinner and easier to drink. The idea is that you get a better concentration of the nutrients. By removing the fiber, the liquid isn’t as hard to metabolize and absorb all the nutrients. However, there is very little scientific proof that shows blender or juicing is better for you. They both have their pros and cons.

We’ll focus on the juicing pros and cons for the sake of this article. After all, you need to know about them to make sure you choose the right type of juicer. There are some juicers now that will allow you to keep some of the pulp into the mixture. Some of the juicers make it possible to create creamy foods and drinks.

Is Juicing the Best Way to Get Your Liquid?

Is Juicing the Best Way to Get Your Liquid - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

There are a lot of mixed reviews when it comes to using a juicer. While yes it can be a positive way to get your liquid, it will depend on the type of liquid you choose.

Did you know that fruit juice can be bad for you? It’s full of sugar, which metabolizes in the liver. There is a higher risk of insulin resistance, which you’ll know is linked to type 2 diabetes. The resistance to insulin is also a problem for the heart, like heart disease because much more likely.

Whole fruit is good for you. This has all the pulp that your body needs to prevent the natural sugars from metabolizing in the body. The pulp contains the fiber to help satisfy your hunger and keep your digestive system working properly. There’s a common misconception that fruit juice does the same. The problem is the pulp is removed when you juice. You lose the fiber but keep all the sugar.

Does this mean you need to forget the whole idea of a juicer? Well, not quite! Vegetable juice is completely different and can be healthy for you.

Vegetables don’t have as many natural sugars in them. Deep down you know this. If you’re actively trying to lose weight, you’ll know that you want to focus on getting more portions of vegetables than you do fruit. They are much better for your weight loss because of the lower amount of sugars and calories—yes, even vegetables and fruit have calories!

When you juice the vegetables, you will still lose some of the fiber but you will get a higher concentration of the minerals and vitamins.

This doesn’t mean you can just drink your vegetables. You will want to eat them to get the fiber and support your digestive system. There’s no denying that eating your vegetables will make you feel fuller, so you end up eating less throughout the day.

And if you are thinking about juicing to support your weight loss efforts, think carefully about the amount that you juice. The odd glass of fruit or vegetable juice isn’t going to be that bad for you—after all, everything in moderation, right?

Juicing your vegetables will help to promote weight loss better, but it’s not the best way to get all your nutrients. It is highly likely that you will eat far more portions of your fruit and vegetables when you juice. You need more portions to create enough juice for a glass. That may seem like a good thing at first, but you need to remember that there are calories involved. If you eat too many portions, you get far more calories than you need and your weight loss stalls.

To support your weight loss, you only need a glass of juiced vegetables. That isn’t that much!

Is blending better? Well, there are some downsides, and you will still find that some of the sugar metabolize quicker than they would if you ate the full fruit or vegetable. You’ll also find that you’re at a higher risk of getting more fruit and vegetables in a day than you need because your body isn’t going through the chewing process to determine if you’re full or not. Like with juicing, you don’t need more than a glass or two of blended fruit and vegetables.

Is It Cheaper to Juice Yourself?

Is It Cheaper to Juice Yourself - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

You can buy fruit and vegetable juices from the stores. Wouldn’t it make it more cost effective to do that?

Well, this depends on the amount of juice that you have a day. If you only want a glass or two a day, there are high chances that making your juice will work out cheaper for you. It will also depend on the type of fruit or vegetable juice that you make.

If you’re going to drink a lot of orange or apple juice, getting it from the store is likely to be cheaper. You can buy them in bulk for just a few dollars because they are so popular. They’re easy for the manufacturers to make, so less time goes into creating them.

When you opt for something that is unusual, or you start mixing juices, you will then find it harder to keep the costs down in the stores. Some vegetable juices are that uncommon that the stores don’t stock them. If they do, they keep the costs high, so they can make a profit. It will be cheaper to buy the vegetables and make your vegetable juices in your home.

The cost that you will find is high is the outright purchase of the juicer. You’ll need to use it regularly to make up for the upfront cost of this. If you have a small household, you can usually save on the cost of the juicer.

Of course, this depends on the reason for buying the juicer. Do you just want it for juicing your fruits and vegetables? This is just the most common use of the juicer, but it’s not the only way that you can benefit. As I’ve already mentioned, I will go through more of the uses of juicers to help you decide whether this is something you want and need in your home. This will also affect the type of juicer that you get.

Juicing Will Require Time and a Commitment

Juicing Will Require Time and a Commitment - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

If you’re going to use juicing to help support your body, you will need to do it regularly. You can have a glass a day to support your weight loss, but that means lots of shopping for different vegetables and some fruits for your juicing needs.

You may find that you need to do extra shopping during the week if you do this regularly. You’ll need more vegetables and fruits that you would buy to eat to be able to juice it up.

We can’t forget about the time commitment to using and cleaning the juicer. You’ll need to clean it every single day straight after use. If you let the fruit or vegetable juices dry they will be much harder to clean. You also need to remember the acidic levels, especially in fruit, which can damage the juicer over time.

What Else Can I Make in My Juicer?

What Else Can I Make in My Juicer - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

So yes, juices are the most commonly considered items when it comes to using a juicer. They’re not the only items that you can make. Did you know that you could make nut butter, for example?

There are multiple uses for a juicer that so many people haven’t considered. Nut butter creation is one of them. That means you can avoid paying for your nut butter in the store and create your own. If you are allergic to nuts, you can make your seed butter to feel still like you’re enjoying the same as your friends.

Nut butter does contain some health benefits. You get some healthy fats and plenty of protein in the nuts. These are foods that you can create in a blender, but what’s the point in buying two very similar electrical products? If you already have the juicer out, you can use that for nut butter creation.

And then you can make your sorbets. Remember that you’re juicing fruit and vegetables into liquid. You can freeze that liquid! Many people will make ice lollies instead of sorbets, and they are perfect for those hot days where you need more fluids or when you have a sore throat and struggle to eat.

You will need to get a juicer that has a homogenization method for sorbets. You need to create a creamy mixture to make this work perfectly.

When you have a homogenization method on the juicer, you can also make whips. Banana whip is one of the most requested around the world. It’s healthy ice cream for a dessert to end the day.

If you’re not interested in the sorbets, you can make soup instead. You get to liquefy the vegetables quickly to create a soup full of different aromas and flavors. If you want to make it a little chunkier, you can use the vegetable juice as a broth and still add your chopped vegetables to the mixture.

The soup broth can be used as a base for many other meals. Just think about the sauces and dishes that you’ll be able to make.

If you adore fruit rolls ups, you may be happy to hear that you can make these with your juicer. They are healthier versions of the ones that you get in the store, and your kids will love showing them off to their friends. You’ll just have parents lining up at your door to find out how you make them.

Still, think you can only make unhealthy juices with your equipment? It’s time to think outside the box and create an easier way of life in your home.

How Do You Make Your Juice Healthier?

How Do You Make Your Juice Healthier - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

I’ve shared some of the downsides of using juicers. Sure enough, there are plenty. If you’re losing weight, you may have dietitians or friends telling you to stay away from them. Well, it’s all about moderation and finding the best ingredients to use. It’s all about following the best tips for using juicers healthily.

Let’s start with the ingredients that you use. Vegetables are the best, as we’ve already mentioned. That doesn’t mean you can’t opt for some fruits. There are certainly benefits to including fruits into your juicing needs. You just don’t need as many fruits as you would choose vegetables.

The best fruit to add to your juicer is a small apple. While there are some sugars and acids, there aren’t as many of them as there are in many other fruits. Melons can also work out to your advantage since they are mostly water. Pears can also be beneficial for the juicer. Just choose one for each mixed juice you make with your vegetables.

Try to add two root vegetables to your juices. They are the best for you regarding antioxidants and other minerals and vitamins. Root vegetables include beets, carrots, and parsnips. Do look out for those that have extra natural sugars, such as parsnips and swede.

Always try to include a dark leafy green vegetable. Kale or spinach will be easier to find in the stores, and you can get either one in larger packets. However, you can also add collards, spring greens, and even broccoli to your juicers. The benefit of the dark leafy greens is the number of vitamins and minerals you will get. They are full of calcium, iron, vitamin A, and much more.

You will get a lot of strong flavors in one place when you choose these types of vegetables and fruits. To help dilute them, add watery vegetables with minimal tastes. These include cucumber and celery. They have very little regarding nutrients compared to other vegetables, but you do get plenty of water.

If you are worried about losing the fiber from your diet, you can always add some back in. Mix in some of the discarded vegetables and give your juice a good shake. This is often done with orange juice to add some of the pulp back in and eliminate some of the sugary problems in the liver.

What Do You Want Your Juicer to Do?

What Do You Want Your Juicer to Do - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

Now it comes to looking at the different types of juicers on the market. It can be difficult to look through all the features and prices and decide on the one that is best for you.

Before you even choose your juicer, you need to decide what you want it to do. There are two main types of juicers: Auger style and juice extractors. They work in different ways and help to create some of the various ideas that I’ve included above.

Let’s start with a look at the auger style juicer. This is usually called the cold-press juicer or a masticating juicer. It’s more expensive than a juice extractor and will take time to understand and get used to the many functions. Most of these juicers crush and mash, making it possible to make some of the creams, whips, and sorbets that we’ve mentioned.

One of the biggest downsides to an auger style juicer is the problem of jamming. You can put in way too many vegetables or fruits at the same time, and the juicer struggles with the amount it needs to handle. The great news is that most of the juicers will have a reverse button, meaning that you can work the fruits and vegetables out backward. If the juicer doesn’t have a reverse button, you want to avoid it or be exceptionally careful with the amount that you pack in.

If you’re worried about getting way too much sugar and not enough fiber in your juice, you want to get this type of juicer. It’s worth the extra money for the pulp that ends up passing through. This is your cross between a blender and a juicer to help to keep the sugar metabolizing in the liver to a minimum.

The juice extractor, on the other hand, is the most common type of juicer on the market. It’s affordable for most people but takes out all the pulp. You’re left with all the sugars in your juice. This type of juicer is also known as the centrifugal juicer because it cuts up the ingredients into pieces before separating pulp and juice. You can usually put larger pieces of fruit and vegetables in without the worry that they will get stuck and jam the system. There isn’t usually a reverse button because of this.

If you do want to include some of the pulp, it is mashed and separated into another cup from the blender. You can always add some of this to your juice, but it’s not going to look that appetizing.

Once the juice is extracted, it is strained into a glass or cup. While it sounds easy to use—and it is—it’s not the easiest to clean. Most of the time, you’ll need to dismantle various elements of the juicer to be able to clean it in full. This it can go into the dishwasher? Not all can, and there will still be other elements that you’ll need to keep out of the water. You’ll want to check this before buying if you think this will speed up the cleaning process.

These types of juicers don’t usually have the homogenization method. You just get the thin juice, which is excellent for soups and ice lollies. If you want to get whips and some sorbets, you’ll want to look at the auger style juicer instead.

It’s not just about the way that the juicer works to create the finished product. You also want to investigate the items that come with your juicers to make your recipe creation as easy as possible.

Look out for juicers that have clear cups for extracting the juice into. This will give you a clear indication of the amount of juice you’ve created as you’re creating it. If you only want to create X cups of apple juice before you add the kale juice, the clear cups will usually have a marker on the side, so you can watch as you make.

It is worth looking out for juicers that are dishwasher safe. This is just beneficially for most of the cleaning. While you can put the whole unit it, you want to get as much of it that is involved in the juicing in it. You should be able to find both extractors and auger style juicers that are dishwasher safe.

Don’t forget about checking how much needs to be pulled apart to wash and put in the dishwasher. You don’t want to spend hours dismantling and putting back together. Otherwise you’ll never use it again!

Check the sizing for storage. Some juicers are taller than they are wide. Others will involve some dismantling of storage. There are others that have long cords to allow for easier use on countertops, but they need to have an easy way to wrap up during storage.

It could be worth looking into models that have a pulp regulator. This will help to eliminate pulp completely or include some of it in your juice. This is regularly a feature on the auger style juicers to make your juice as healthy as possible.

The Best Juicers on the Market

The Best Juicers on the Market - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

Now you know what to look out for, it’s time to look at some of your juicer options. Looking into all the benefits and downsides of each one will help you determine the best one for your exact needs. We’re all different. While some people want something quick and easy to make a juice a day, others want something for other uses throughout the week.

Here’s a look at some of the more popular juicers on the market. We’ll include some of the most requested features and any pros and cons to the juicers. We’ll wrap up with the ultimate best juicer we believe would work for most needs.

Omega J8006 Nutrition Center

Omega J8006 Nutrition Center 300x296 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

Let’s start with the Omega J8006 juicer—also marketed as a Nutrition Center. This is one of the auger style juicers, giving you a healthier way of juicing your fruits and vegetables. Yes, you’ll be able to make a paste with the ingredients, which is perfect for all your cooking needs. It’s no surprise that this is one of the most highly recommended juicers on the market.

The motor is powerful, offering a low speed of 80 RPM. It has one of the highest juice yields but does have some problem with blocking if you put too much in at the same time. The cutting ability is good, and there is a reverse button if you need to get a blockage out at all.

For those who want to make nut butter, you can use this juicer. The Omega J8006 may not have the 180RPM needed for blending down peanuts, but the high precision blades help to make up for that. It just may take a little longer than if you used a higher speed juicer or blender or your peanut crushing needs. You can also grind up coffee beans if that’s something that you want to make.

And we can’t forget about the 15-year warranty that comes with this juice. Omega has a belief that this juicer will last for the years to come and it makes it more than worth the money. By dealing with a well-known brand, you can also find it much easier to get the replacement or repairs if you ever need it. Just make sure you keep the proof of purchase for those years!

The Omega J8006 comes in a variety of colors to suit all needs. The chrome look is the most popular, but you buy in white, red, purple, yellow, and blue, among other colors. All the colors come at the same price, so you just need to decide which ones will work with your other appliances and your kitchen décor. The only color that is missing is black to work with most other modern-day alliances.

You won’t have the problem of hearing the radio or having a conversation while you juice. The motor is quiet, which is something that various previous customers have commented on.

While juicing, the system will take out most of the nutrients. It can take out some of the pulp to create a paste with the juice, making whips and healthy baby food in minutes. Unlike some other juicers, you can bulk make and store the juice in the fridge for up to 72 hours. You won’t see any separation in the juices within that time.

The Omega J8006 will replace your food processor completely. This juicer does both juicing and blending, meaning that you can chop up fruits and vegetables quickly if you need to. It’s possible to mince garlic, onions, scallions, and more quickly and effectively.

Customers have shared that this is the juicer to spend your money on. There’s no need to spend extra on other models or brands because this does everything that someone could want or need. The juicer is extremely easy to clean and can be used multiple times in the day with ease.

It does work better if you pop the fruit and vegetables in smaller chunks. It will work the full items in some cases—if they fit into the juicer! —but this can clog up the system. Some of the harder produce will be juiced better if they are partially chopped.

As with all other juicers, this isn’t perfect. There isn’t a perfect machine out there! But the cons are small. One of the problems is the smaller chute. However, it just means taking longer to break them down and pass them through the system. It’s worth it for the superior grinding ability.

Some of the plastic is clear. It won’t stay that way for long when you use many of the darker vegetables. It doesn’t matter how much you clean the juicer; you will find that it starts to stain over time, usually from greens, beets, and carrots!

It’s not the best option if you want to use up older vegetables or anything that has already been mushed. The cutting is designed for raw and fresh vegetables rather than softer options.

One of the downsides that I find with this juicer is the fact that it doesn’t stand upright. It’s longer than it is taller, which means that it takes up more space on the countertop. With a kitchen that only has three countertops, it would need to be put away daily, as the kettle and coffee machine are more important items to have out daily—and one countertop is for preparing vegetables.

If you have space, the size of the juicer probably isn’t going to be a problem. If you tend to put your appliances away between use, then the style of juicer likely won’t affect your purchasing decisions.

Breville 800JEXL Juicer

Breville 800JEXL Juicer 300x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

You’ve likely heard of the Breville brand. This is one of the most popular brands when it comes to appliances of all types, shapes, and sizes. It shouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Breville has created juicers. The Breville 800JEXL is one of the most popular products from the brand, offering a product that is around the same price as the Omega J8006 above.

The biggest downside right away to the juicer is that it’s a centrifugal system. Yes, it only extracts juice for the same price as the Omega auger style juicer above. So, why is the price justified?

Well, extractors do have their benefits over the auger style. One of those is the speed at which you get your juices. This Breville most importantly offers two different speeds to juice at, on a 1000-watt system. You can juice down at 6,500 RPM or 13,000 RPM. You can instantly see the major difference between this and the Omega above, right?

You will save plenty of time when you want to juice large amounts. You’ll also find it easier to juice raw vegetables without much cutting. When you see those people on TV shows throwing in their vegetables and getting the juice immediately, this is likely a style of blender that they have. There’s even an extra-large feeding tube with the 800JEXL, so you can keep the time down making large amounts of juice.

The pulp container is also large to work with the larger feeding tube. You don’t need to stop part way through juicing to empty your pulp container, so you can finish off with your vegetables.

Despite some of the downsides of juice extractors, the Breville 800JEXL is one that you’ll be compelled to invest in. The clean-up process is extremely easy. It’s dishwasher safe and doesn’t take long to pull apart and wash.

One of the downsides that customers have found is that the juicer doesn’t work too well for dark leafy greens. It’s excellent for other fruits and vegetables. However, there are others who have found a way around this. They roll up their dark leafy greens tight so that they juice fully.

Some customers have noted that the juicers will lose some of their capabilities over time. This is common, but there are some that have complained about problems after the first year. Breville doesn’t offer the longest warranty, which does make earlier breakages a major negative. There are some replacements that can be bought to fix leaking and filtering problems. However, they don’t always work.

It turns out that some of the leaking problems may be the design of the juicer. There is a joint where the pulp and liquid are separated, so some of the juice can end up seeping through accidentally. There is little that can be done about this and is just a design flaw that Breville will need to fix.

Breville also only covers the motor under warranty. So, if other elements stop working, then you won’t be able to get a repair or replacement. This is a negative sign for such a major and reputable brand.

As for the size of the juicer, it does have the advantage of the upright standing unit. This will take up less space on the counter than the Omega. The thing you need to decide is whether you want to pay the same amount for an extractor as you would for an auger-style juicer.

Breville JE98XLJuice Fountain

Breville JE98XLJuice Fountain 217x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

Another Breville option is the JE98XL juicer. This is another juice extractor option with a lower wattage than the 800JEXL. It comes with the two speeds, but the higher speed is 1,000 RPM lower. This may not be that much of a problem for those using it once a day. The problem is if you want to juice a large amount at the same time.

Breville markets this juicer as one that will give you 40% more nutrients than other juicers out there. I’d be interested in knowing the research that has been put into this to compare juicers and come to that 40% conclusion.

Some parts of the juicer are dishwasher safe. It’s relatively easy to pull apart and clean thoroughly. This will need to be done daily after use.

Like with the previous Breville, this comes with a 1-year warranty but only for the motor. If you have a problem with another element of the juicer, then you’re not going to get a replacement.

The benefit is that this is more than half the price of the previous two juicers we’ve mentioned. Considering it is a centrifugal system, this pricing seems more than fair. It is one of the cheapest juicers you will find on the market, but do the customer reviews support it?

If you’re not going to use the juicer daily, then this is one of those that you want to consider. It’s an introducer price point and something that you can justify placing it in a cupboard for a few days, weeks, or months at a time. You can then pull it out for daily use now and then, as many customers have admitted that they do.

While it doesn’t create the pastes and isn’t an auger style, there are some major benefits to the centrifugal system. Those who are busy parents have said that it is perfect for their needs. They can just keep feeding in the vegetables and not have to worry about the clogging. One busy mom is a customer and shared that she can juice her carrots in just a minute. It’s perfect for her exact needs.

When it comes to the high motor speed, there is still no need to worry about the noise. It is perfect for an average-sized kitchen. You’ll still be able to talk to people in the room or hear the radio. Those who want to use it daily will not be put off by the sound coming from the system, even at the highest speed.

The high speed is excellent for the harder fruits and vegetables. If you want to juice the softer options, you’ll need to consider using the lower setting. It’s perfect for oranges, Brussels sprouts, and more.

One of the downsides is the juice output. While Breville markets that the juicer extracts 30% more juice, customers have noted that other juicers do offer more juice from their vegetables. The JE98XL could offer more, but then the price needs to be considered. This is a low-cost juicer that does the main elements.

There was one negative review from a customer, who says that the pulp comes out with far too much juice. The user even puts the pulp through their Omega juicer and got 16 ounces of juice from it. This could be expecting more than they could get from the cheaper Breville unit. It’s the only such review, so it doesn’t look like a major problem for most users.

For me, the upright standing is a positive point. Like I’ve said before, I need something that doesn’t take up the counter space. The JE98XL is also thinner than it’s higher-end sister, which means it can be left out for a few days rather than being put away every single time.

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 234x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

When you want something under the $100 mark, this is the juicer that you want to consider. Breville makes sure that it offers something good quality in all price ranges. The downside is that it is a smaller machine and doesn’t have the strongest output. But you do get what you pay for.

The Breville BJE200XL is perfect for those new to juicing, when you’re not sure if it is something for you. It does have some of the most asked for features in the previous Brevilles I’ve shared, but there are some limitations. If you just use the juicer now and then or have a small kitchen, you’ll find that the pricing point is more than fair.

Like with the other juicers, there are parts that are dishwasher safe, and there is a 3-inch feeding tube for all the fruits and vegetables. It only has the one speed, though. At 14,000 RPM it is excellent for the raw fruits and vegetables that tend to be hard to break down and juice, but it’s not going to be the best for the softer and mushier options. If you want to juice them, you need something that has a lower RPM.

The motor speed is also only 700 watts. This is going to be more than enough for those who don’t juice on a regular basis. The lower speed motor also means a quiet system.

While the motor speed is lower, the fruits and vegetables are still juiced quickly. This will save you time compared to some of the other appliances on the market, supporting the reason for opting for the lower price point.

This is also a centrifugal system, which means it just extracts the juice. You’re not going to get all the mushier, thicker outcomes that you could with the auger style systems. Remember the lower pricing point when you find this a downside. If you have fruits that don’t have much juice in the in the first place, you’ll find it difficult to pass them through the system and get much from this. This is something that you’ll want some of the juicers with slightly slower speeds or an auger style juicer for.

There have been a few complaints about the pulp coming out wet. This appears to be a complaint with a few of the Breville juicers, including some of the options that I’ve already shared above. However, this appears to be an issue with the speed of feeding the fruits and vegetables into the system. The faster you do it, the wetter the pulp will be. Feeding fruits and vegetables in fast will mean that the juicer doesn’t quite have the time to work and will spit out the pulp as quickly as possible to move onto the next ingredient.

If you find that the pulp is coming out too wet, try slowing down on the rate of feeding ingredients in. You may notice a world of difference.

Others have also found that regularly cleaning the mesh basket helps to keep the juicer working properly. It seems like an obvious thing to do, but it’s surprising how many people will neglect it without thinking. They tend to leave it a few uses and then wash it out. It’s best just to wash and clean it thoroughly between each use.

Customers have been attracted by the compact size of the unit. It’s no lie that it’s one of the best juicers out there for smaller kitchens. Everything is contained in the one unit, so there are no parts that stick out at the back. The feeder stands up from the top, so you get just to keep popping the ingredients in one at a time.

You can feed some mushy options, but you will need to keep your hand over the feeder to prevent a mess. You’ll also need to feed them in much slower than you would with the harder fruits and vegetables, according to some of the customer reviews. Some customers have said even then that the juicing of the leafy greens is much harder. If you’re doing this to get the nutrients from the likes of spinach and kale, you may want to investigate some of the higher end options.

A major plus point is the dismantling of the unit. There are no tools needed to get elements out, like the mesh basket. Everything is held in place with magnets, meaning that clips can’t break accidentally and make the unit unusable. This makes cleaning much easier since there’s no issue with putting the appliance back together again.

One of the downsides is that it will stain. The juicer extraction unit is clear plastic, so it is subject to the staining from various fruits and vegetables. This is common with orange, purple, and green fruits and vegetables and it doesn’t matter how often you clean it. This is a common issue with all juicers unless you find something that has glass or metal for the jug and feeder. Of course, the heavier material will cost more, so it depends on where you want to save.

Omega J8004 Nutrition Center

Omega J8004 Nutrition Center 300x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

While I shared the J8006 at first, the Omega J8004 is one of the predecessors. It does offer many of the same features, but there are some downsides to it.

First, let me point out that this is a masticating juicer. Yes, it’s an auger style, and that means it does so much more than the Breville centrifugal options that I’ve shared in the last few reviews. The downside is the speed that you will break up and juice the fruit and vegetables.

Like with the Omega J8006, this only has an 80 RPM rate. The great benefit of this is that there is no build-up in the heat at all, but you will need to think carefully about the amount that you put into the system at one time. If you want speed and efficiency, this isn’t the type of juicer that you want. It does have a habit of getting blocked up. There is a reverse button to help counter this issue if you suffer it.

Unlike the Breville, the Omega J8004 comes with a 15-year warranty and not just on the motor. Whatever happens to the unit, you will get a repair or replacement. Omega trusts that this will work and is well worth the money spent. As for the cost, though, you are looking at spending more than $200 at the time of writing this. It will be out of pocket for some people.

While the speed is low, like the J8006, it is possible to break down the food into a pulpy, thickness instead of just as a juice. This is a major benefit of the auger style. If you want ice creams and salsas, this is certainly one of the units that you want to save up for. The 80RPM isn’t quite enough for grinding nuts, but the high-precision and strong blades make up for that issue. That means nut butter are extremely easy to make from home.

Some customers will find the lack of color options disappointing. The J8006 and J8004 are very similar except for this aspect. However, both are plastic, so it’s not the biggest deal. The J8004 comes in plain white, which does work with most decors, but it may not quite fit in with the rest of your appliances on the kitchen countertop.

Most customers report that this is just the same as the J8006 and offers all the same benefits and downsides. The only difference is the price, and there are customers suggesting that if you’re choosing between the two then just look at the pricing. Sometimes the J8006 will be a lower price if it is on sale.

My downside would be the size. It is bulky and wider than it is tall. The spout is off to one side, rather than standing upright. This doesn’t work for my small kitchen. However, with a bigger kitchen, the size may not be an issue. I’d just need to keep putting the juicer in and out of the cupboard to use it, and that would get tedious after a while.

There have been a small number of complaints about Omega when the juicer has broken. These issues seem to be isolated and nothing to do with the actual juicer. In fact, even the negative reviews about the company have been positive about the juicer itself. Customers have shared that it is extremely easy to clean, even without a dishwasher. There are some parts that are dishwasher safe. Customers have also praised the ability to juice absolutely anything, meaning that you will never have to worry about any food going to waste. The worst to juice is potatoes, mashed or raw!

Omega NC900HDC 6th Generation Juicer

Omega NC900HDC 6th Generation Juicer 300x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

One of Omega’s most recent juicers on the market is the NC900HDV 6th generation juicer. This has many of the same features as the J8004 and J8006 but has a very different look. Unlike the other juicers, there is a carry handle, making it much easier to move the juicer around the kitchen or for travel.

Not many people will need the carry handle. In fact, it just looks like it is more for aesthetic reasons more than use.

The appliance is a step up from the J8007 and J8008, which were steps up from the J8006. It sports the same RPM with high precision technology, which means it can still break down the peanuts and mushy foods. There are also multiple speeds to help with the precision and better juicing abilities. You’ll just need to change the pulp adjustment for the types of foods that you’re putting through the juicer.

It is a masticating juicer, which means that you can get the creamier options. It also means that your juicer is likely to back up and clog if you put everything through too quickly or in large amounts. The slow speed does help to make sure all the juice is extracted from the fruits and vegetables, unlike with some of the faster centrifugal options.

Some customers have found that overfilling the chute has led to the juicer breaking. The great news is that the 15-year warranty that comes with most of the Omega products covers this. You do need to be careful if you want to avoid the hassle of repairs and replacements.

Some customers have shared that the advice on using the juicer is minimal. They needed to go out and buy other books to learn how to make the best juices for their needs. This isn’t a negative, as life is all about continuous learning. There are also plenty of YouTube videos to watch for free if this is something that you’d prefer to do.

Cleaning is extremely easy. There’s little to dismantle to wash, and most of the elements are dishwasher safe. It’s extremely easy to put everything back together.

This is much wider than it is taller. There is a modern day look to it, but some of it is just for aesthetics. There’s no need for many of us to have the carry handle, and there’s nothing wrong with the previous designs. It does have a chrome look but is made of plastic.

One of the biggest downsides is the price. This is over $300 for one appliance, which will be out of the budget for many people. If you want to opt for a masticating juicer, the J8004 and J8006 will do just the same jobs without the modern-day look. In fact, the $300+ price is when it’s on sale, and the full price is just short of $500. Not everyone wants to pay that much for a unit or can justify such a price.

Cuisinart CJE-1000 Juice Extractor

Cuisinart CJE 1000 Juice Extractor 270x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

We can’t miss out the Cuisinart brand when it comes to juicers. This is another highly reputable kitchen appliance brand that most you will have heard of. It’s no surprise that a number of the juicers are highly recommended by customers and fans of the brand.

The CJE-1000 has a benefit over many of the other juice extractor juicers that we’ve already covered. It has five different speeds, making it possible to juice almost anything that you put into it. If it has juice, you’ll find that it is easy to remove the pulp from. Very few juicers have more than two speeds, and if they do, you will end up paying over the odds for that benefit.

Customers have raved about the multiple speeds. The slower speeds make it possible to juice leafy greens, which is something that many centrifugal systems fail on. The higher speeds make it possible to juice some of the harder fruits and vegetables, including carrots and apples.

You can get the Cuisinart CJE-1000 at just over $100, which is perfect for those who are new to juicing or don’t want to use it daily. You can justify $100 for the sake of improving your health and getting something tasty daily.

To make this unit even better, it comes with a cleaning brush. It also has die-casting, which helps to keep the staining to a minimum. While you’re juicing, you won’t find the need to keep stopping to empty the pulp basket, as it holds up to 2 liters of pulp. The juice jug holds up to a liter! This one-litre jug is just the right shape to store in the fridge, meaning you can save your juice for later. The juices won’t separate over the course of a couple of days, so there’s no need to worry about mixing everything back up.

The juicer jug is clean plastic. While the downside is staining, you will be able to see just how much juice you have made to avoid wasting anything. If you’re worried about wasting juice through dripping, the Cuisinart is one of the only brands that market its anti-dripping spout feature. You won’t have anything to clean up from the countertops between uses.

Some customers have found that the smaller fruits and vegetables aren’t the best for use in the juice. This could be because they’re too small for the blades, but it may also be due to the use of the wrong speed. It’s difficult to assess, as the complaints about small fruits are minimal. Most customers have found it a powerful blender, especially for the price range. It’s not perfect, but it’s excellent for the money that you are going to spend on it.

Many customers have compared the CJE-1000 to other Breville units within the same price range. The 1000-watt power is the thing that has attracted the customers to the Cuisinart brand since it is at a lower price than the 900-watt Breville options. The fast motor helps to save time for juicing everything, and there are minimal clogging issues. Some of the pulp is wet, but you can prevent that by not putting as much through the system at the same time.

There are no complaints over the noise coming from the unit. This would suggest that the high-powered motor is quiet enough to use in even the smallest kitchens. In fact, positive comments have stated that the quiet motor function is true, and that was from customers not putting much stock in the claims—as most brands claim it but don’t quite meet expectations.

When you want a juicer with a modern look, this is the juicer to opt for. The unit has a stainless-steel housing, unlike all the rest, making it much easier to clean. There is also an LED light on the speed setting. The pulp extractor and juicer jug are on opposite sides of the unit, keeping them separate and avoiding any possible mix up. The feeder is also at the top, keeping the size to a minimum. It’s still slightly bigger than some of the Breville, so many not be suitable for the smallest of kitchens where you want to keep the juicer out all the time, but it is good for the average-sized kitchen. It won’t take up too much cupboard space if you’re an infrequent user of your juicer.

Omega VRT350 Vertical Auger Style Juicer

Omega VRT350 Vertical Auger Style Juicer 300x300 - The Ultimate Juicer Review (All You Need to Know)

If you want to get an Omega, you may be worried about the size. Well, the brand has answered that issue and even has an auger style juicer available. The VRT350 is a vertical option, with the spout standing right up from the top. The compact style makes it perfect for even the tiniest kitchen. Even I wouldn’t have to worry about space with this.

This is also the juicer for the lazy people who don’t want to clean daily. It has an auto cleaning feature. However, you’ll still want to do some cleaning after a few uses.

There are times that fruits, and vegetables will get stuck. This is common with most auger styles if you add too much at the same time. However, there is a reverse function. In short, you’re getting most of the features from some of the larger units, but it will take up much less space. It also looks more attractive than some of the other units on the market.

The main unit has a chrome look, but there are also red and dark purple options if you want your juicer to stand out. There isn’t a white or black option, which is two of the most requested colors for kitchen appliances.

The biggest downside with the Omega VRT350 is the price point. You are paying for the compact size with all the same features as the others. This is more than $400 when at full price, although like many other units there are regular sales of the product. If you have the budget for it, this could certainly be one of the best appliances for your kitchen.

If you opt for the different colored units, you could save some money. Some of them are under $200, which will take the juicer in line with most other Omegas and some Breville units. It’s still more expensive than some of the Cuisinart juicers on the market, but then you’re paying for an auger style at the same time!

Like with the other Omega masticating juicers, this only has one-speed setting and is set at 80 RPM. It is marketed as a heavy-duty option, which will mean that it can handle almost anything. This includes nuts, dark leafy greens, and mushy foods. It is also possible to put frozen fruits and vegetables straight in. Just keep the amount to a minimum to avoid clogging and to avoid too much work for the blades.

For those who want little pulp in their juices, is worth spending the money on the VRT350. Customers have shared that the pulp is less than that served in freshly juiced orange juice in restaurants. It’s a powerful little unit that you won’t be disappointed with.

Customers have also shared that the juice does come out in full. The pulp is extremely dry, even drying that the J8006 unit. If you can justify the price, then you will enjoy anything that you put through the system. If you can get it on sale for less than the J8006, the consensus is to jump at the chance to get it.

One of the biggest downsides of the Omega VRT350 is the lack of ability to add it to the dishwasher. This is part of the allure of the self-cleaning function. The good news is that washing by hand doesn’t take that long. Many customers wash their juicers out before us, and it takes them just minutes. For the laziest of juicers, this isn’t going to be the option for you.

This also isn’t going to be your fastest juicer. This should be a sign with the 80 RPM system, which is the same as other auger styles. The auger style juicers aren’t for speed but precision. If you want something faster, then you need to investigate getting the centrifugal systems on the market.

Hamilton Beach 67608A Juice Extractor

When you just want a juicer that is cheap, useful, and easy to use, the Hamilton Beach 67608A is the one that you want to buy. Yes, it is the cheapest I’ve found on the market, coming in at under $50.

The downside? Well, you are only getting a juice extractor. This isn’t your auger style for the nut butter and creamy options, but it is well worth it if you’re an infrequent user or you just want to try out making your juices. It’s also the best option if you’re on an extremely tight budget but still want to put your health first.

But does it work that well? Surely you get what you pay for, right? It does only have an 800-watt motor, which is much less than the Cuisinart brand above and some of the Brevilles, but that is still powerful. In fact, it’s more powerful than some of the more expensive Brevilles on the market and all the Omegas that we’ve shared above.

Power is good. When you have a stronger system, you will get your juice much quicker. If you’re a busy parent or individual, you want to consider this as your initial juicer purchase.

There is also a large pulp bin, and the pulp doesn’t come out too soggy. Okay, so you will still have some juice in the pulp, but you can limit this by slowing down the speed at which you put the vegetables and fruit into the spout. Yes, the spout is at the top, so it will be much quicker to add everything in.

Elements of the juicer are dishwasher safe to make cleaning easier. There isn’t a self-cleaning function, but it takes just minutes to dismantle and wash, and it isn’t difficult to put it all back together. It’s slightly harder than the Cuisinart and some of the other units but does keep the price point in mind.

A major selling point is the stainless-steel unit. I say this because of the cleaning element. It’s going to be much quicker and easier to get all the juice and pulp removed. You’ll also find that staining is kept to a minimum. Having the metal appearance on the outside will also mean that your juicer fits with most of your other kitchen appliances and your décor.

You will need to pre-cut some of the harder fruits and vegetables. This isn’t just the case for this cheaper option but all the juicers on the list. So, it’s not a negative.

Most of the customer reviews are extremely high—either four or five stars. There are a few one and two-star reviews, but that is to be expected. No juicer is perfect, and customers have different needs for the appliances. Some have also forgotten the lower price point that they paid for this and compared it to some of the units that cost hundreds of dollars.

Some customers have complained that the Hamilton Beach 67608A only lasts for two or three years, and there is only a one-year warranty. Again, this is very much due to the price point. You’re paying much less than other units on the market, especially those with the 15-year warranty. You’ll still save money if you need to replace it every few years. Other customers haven’t found the same problem, so it may depend on the amount of use the unit gets.

In fact, some customers have said the exact opposite about the use. They’ve used it heavily over the course of months and years and not found an issue with smoking or breaking.

One of the downsides that customers have noticed is the size of the juicing jug. It only holds around 20 ounces of juice. While the pulp holder is large, the small juicing jug defeats the purpose. You will still have to stop and pour the juice into another glass to keep using it. However, it’s worth remembering something that we mentioned at the start of this: you only need a glass of juice a day to get all the health benefits. This glass is usually around 8 ounces so that you will get a few days’ worth of juice from just one jug!

Cleaning the unit has been a complaint from some. While most of the unit is dishwasher safe, the housing unit isn’t. You need to get right into it to clean, and it can be tricky. This isn’t the unit for those who want a lazier lifestyle with their juicing. However, this is one of the downsides of juicing that we pointed out at the start.

So Which Is the Best Juicer on the Market?

We can’t tell you the best or the worst. The problem is that one juice will be perfect for one person but the worst option for another. We all have different needs and preferences when it comes to juices.

I will try to break this down into most needs to help you choose the best juicer.

If you want an auger style juicer, the Omega J004 or J006 will be your best option. Both are extremely similar except for the price. You’ll just want to opt for the one that is the cheapest at the time of buying.

There are times that the VRT350 unit is cheaper. This is an excellent auger style when you want something compact. If the price were much lower than it is now, I’d consider it for my kitchen as it is one of the smallest juicers on the market overall. The price just turns me off compared to the other two Omegas.

When you want a centrifugal system, then you want to consider either the Cuisinart or the Hamilton Beach. Both are much lower in price and a great value for what you get.

Why am I mentioning both? Well, there’s no denying that the Cuisinart is the most powerful on the market. It’s small and juicers everything. The downside is the pricing point for those who are very new to juicing. If you want to try it out or get used to it, then the Hamilton Beach unit is the best to choose. There are some downsides regarding cleaning, and some customers have noted that it doesn’t last, but for the price to see if juicing is for you then you won’t feel like you’re wasting your money.

Hopefully, this ultimate juicer review has helped you find the perfect juicer for your needs. Make a list of everything that you want to get from the juicer before you make your purchase and look through your options. Would you like an auger style or juice extractor? This is the first question that you need to ask; then you can look at whether you want a unit that has multiple speeds or one that is slow and breaks down absolutely everything. Remember that your needs will change over time, so the perfect juicer may change in a few years’ time.

Overall, juicing is a good way to get your nutrients in large amounts quickly. You don’t want to drink too much in a day, especially when it comes to fruit juices. Sometimes opting for the smaller units will help to keep the amount of juice you drink to a minimum to make sure you do put your health first when opting for this method to get your fruit and veggies.

15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

117337754ece34f84fe2c42b43cfcfd6 2000x1200 - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Chicken Image Design 1 - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Chicken has always been a favorite on our meal tables, not just because it’s delicious, but also because of the many benefits, it can offer. It’s cheap and available anytime in the grocery store. It’s also a great source of proteins and essential nutrients. It’s very versatile meat because it can be prepared in different ways.

As a source of meat, chicken can be typed for either dark or light. The difference isn’t that important but suffice it say that dark chicken meat contains more saturated fats and cholesterol. What consumers should be more aware is that the fat in the skin where most of the saturated fats and cholesterol can be found. If one worries too much about the unhealthy parts of the chicken, just remove the skin.

Buy the chicken whole as it would be more economical. Cutting it up isn’t that difficult and requires just a little patience and practice. The meat is tender but still, sharpen the knives first.  Chicken is cheap as they’re raised in big numbers and are kept healthy with antibiotics to promote faster growth and prevent illness.  People still have a choice of eating healthier by opting for those raised without antibiotics and are certified as organic. The downside, these will be more expensive. The upside, they are healthier.

Preparing chicken could spell the differences on its health value. Frying it would certainly raise its calorie count because of the extra fat. To get the best health benefits from chicken, one can either bake, roast or stir-fry the meat with some vegetables. Here are some ways that could make your chicken meals healthier:

Poached in Water

Poached in water - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

This is one of the healthiest ways to cook chicken. The only ingredients one will need are water and the chicken itself. It’s like poaching eggs. Just boil the water in a deep saucepan, drop the chicken, and let simmer until thoroughly cooked. How much water to use will depend on how much or which part of the chicken is to be cooked.

As expected, one will end up with a cooked chicken that is devoid or lacking in taste. And as expected, there’s always a solution, and this entails adding some flavors without abating the chicken’s health value. For instance, one can make chicken soup using chicken and water plus some herbs, vegetables, and spices.

Poached in Other Liquids

Initial preparations are like poaching chicken in water, except this method will use other liquids instead of water. An advantage to this is that the chicken can be served as is when cooked or can be cut-up to be used in salads, casseroles, sandwiches and pasta dishes.

When poaching, choose boneless chicken or bone-in chicken breast with the skin removed to maintain the low-calorie count. To poach, put the chicken in a saucepan and cover it with water, wine, broth or other combinations. Enhance the flavor of the chicken with garlic, sprigs of herbs, onions, peppercorns, and salt. Reduce heat and simmer until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.

Grilled

Grilled - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

This is also a healthy option for cooking chicken but be wary of the amount of oil applied. Use olive oil for brushing to keep the meat from drying up but do it sparingly. Don’t use too much oil in the brushing process. Nobody wants more calories than they need. Or better still, marinate the chicken before grilling and use fresh herbs, spices, and vinegar for that extra flavor.

Chicken Wraps

Breast meat is the choice when making wraps. This method is easy and convenient, and one can have wraps for any meal of the day. Having chicken wraps for lunch will give anyone that extra boost. For dinner or breakfast, shred those leftover chicken breast, wrap in a whole wheat tortilla with some cheese, vegetables, and a good serving of salsa. That will be an ultra-healthy meal.

Sautéed

Saut%C3%A9ed - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Sautéing is almost the same as grilling where one would require some heat and some oil. Use a non-stick pan because this will lessen the amount of fat needed. For that healthy kick, avoid using too much cream and butter on the dish. Having these in mind, one will be ending up with a very healthy chicken meal. For want chicken with a crispy outer layer, sear the meat first on the stove top, then bake in an oven.

Roasted

Choose the herbs carefully when giving that special flavor to the roast chicken. Combining lemon and basil is perfect. So is lemon and rosemary. Herbs will give the meat great flavor, and a bonus to this method is that it will make the inside of the house smell incredible, almost good enough to eat!

Baked

Baked - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

This could be the healthiest way to cook chicken. Not much fat is used, and the baked chicken will be infused with the herbs, spices, and vegetables that are used in its preparation. First, rub the chicken with some olive oil, then season it with spices and herbs. Lay the chicken in a baking pan and surround it with an assortment of vegetables. Also, add more spices like cloves, onions, garlic, and some lemon slices. For a healthier preparation, peel off the skin for each serving before baking.

Braised

Searing chicken is one way of sealing in the moisture and flavors in the meat. Searing is pan-frying using minimal oil until the outside of the meat turns golden brown. There will be very flavorful morsels left on the pan after searing and these are always incorporated into a sauce once a liquid is added. One can simmer the seared chicken into the sauce or make a sauce then pour it on the chicken.

Steamed

Steamed - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

This is similar in some respects to poaching. The main difference is that poached chicken is cooked in boiling water while the steamed chicken is cooked over boiling water. Steaming will require a stockpot (covered) with a steamer inside. One can use any liquid. It can be plain water, juice, wine or broth. For some extra flavor, add in the boiling medium some vegetables, herbs, and spices. One can also marinate the chicken in his favorite mixture and steam it afterward. After the meat is cooked, it’s also possible to thicken the remaining liquid and serve it with the meat or opt to save the liquid for some other use later.

Chicken in Lettuce Cups

This an easy, exciting, and very healthy way to eat chicken. First, combine chili sauce, oil, lime juice, ginger, garlic, and some sriracha. Mix well, add the chicken breasts, toss, then allow to marinate. Cook the chicken breast then slice thinly. Separate the lettuce leaves into cups and fill each with the chicken. Garnish the dish with some other healthy ingredients.

Marinated

Marinated - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Marinating chicken will keep the meat from drying up when cooking and, of course, it will give the meat lots of flavors. Marinates differ with each country and each as exciting as the other. Here is an Italian inspired marinade: Combine olive oil, white vinegar, dried parsley, lemon juice, and basil. Add oregano, salt, black pepper, some chopped garlic, and garlic powder. Toss and then add the chicken breast to the mixture. Marinate the meat for about ten minutes, but a long time would infuse the flavors better. Then one can either bake or grill in the oven until the juices start to run clear.

Salad Wraps with Chicken

This is a weight-watchers delight because it will give them limited calories and at the same time, they can enjoy a tasty and healthy treat. Cook chicken that has been seasoned with oregano, pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Let the cooked chicken stand for a few minutes before slicing thinly. Lay out some romaine lettuce leaves, then top them with the sliced chicken, avocado, tomato slices, and some croutons. Finally, drizzle each with some Caesar dressing and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. Wrap. Instead of Caesar’s dressing, one can also use other types of dressing.

Skewered Chicken Cubes

Skewered chicken cubes - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Kebabs are an easy and fun way to cook chicken. It only requires some veggies and cubes of chicken breast. Chop vegetables into the desired sizes. Onions, zucchinis, and peppers are favorites. Alternates these with chicken cubes on skewers. These can either be baked or grilled.

Rainbow Chicken

This is another simple and healthy way of having chicken for a meal. Place the following on a baking pan: carrots, tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, broccoli and lastly, the chicken.  For the marinade combine the following: olive oil, cilantro, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Pour this marinade over the chicken and the vegetables, then add some more salt and pepper. Toss until everything has been coated with the marinade. Bake until everything has been thoroughly cooked. Portion cooked rice on plates and top this with roasted vegetables and chicken slices.

Stir-Fried

Stir fried - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

This method is going Chinese and will need a wok to do the dish. It’s a fast and healthy way to cook chicken and vegetables. A wok should be big enough so that all the food will constantly meet the very hot surface of the pan. Cut the chicken and vegetables into roughly the same sizes to ensure everything will be cooked at the same time. Over high heat, place the oil in the wok and toss the chicken and vegetables in a flavorful sauce. Stir-frying usually involves a limited time.

The Benefits of Eating Chicken

The benefits of eating chicken - 15 Healthy Ways to Eat Chicken

Almost everybody eats chicken because it’s the world’s most popular protein source. The meat is not only delicious but has a lot of benefits. Here are some of the benefits:

Chicken is rich in protein. Chicken an excellent protein source and not to mention, perhaps the cheapest one. We need protein in the diet because it contains amino acids. These are responsible for the building and repair of our body tissues.

Chicken also contains a lot of vitamins and minerals. Aside from protein, chicken meat also contains a variety of vitamins and minerals which contribute to the body’s health:

  • Its B-vitamins can prevent cataracts and some skin disorders, they help in boosting immunity, and regulating digestion. They can also reduce fatigue, improve the functioning of the nervous system, and more
  • Chicken is also a good source of vitamin D which is essential in the absorption of calcium and in strengthening bones.
  • The vitamin A content supports the functioning of the eyes.
  • Iron is important in the formation of hemoglobin in the blood, the prevention of anemia, and muscle activity too.
  • The elements sodium and potassium are electrolytes. These minerals help in dealing with weakness, improving bone health, dental health, brain function, as well as metabolic issues.

Promotes weight loss. A diet that contains high protein levels is good for weight watchers. Chicken being cheap and readily available has become the main meat for those who want to lose weight.

Helps regulate blood pressure. Research has been conducted where people are suffering from hypertension were given chicken in their diet which was complimented with nuts, fruits, low-dietary products, and vegetables. The results showed that chicken meat in diets could influence the lowering of blood pressure.

Reduces the risk of developing cancer. Tests have been conducted on vegetarians where red meats such as pork, lamb, and beef were included in their diets. Results indicated that there was an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer. Another group was tested where fish, vegetables, and chicken composed their regimen and this group; the cancer risk was reduced. Such studies though are not yet conclusive.

Reduced levels of cholesterol. The build-up of cholesterol in the body could only lead to the development of heart diseases. Red meat has higher cholesterol and saturated fat levels than chicken, vegetables, and fish. Consumers of the latter group have lower risks of having heart diseases. Bear in mind though that chicken could be healthier than red meat, but they still must be consumed in moderation.

Treatment of the common cold. Like Grandma’s formula for common colds, sore throats, and a congested nose, a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup can indeed give relief and enjoyment.

Choose your chicken carefully. Don’t just buy chicken without checking them up first. Here are some helpful guidelines when purchasing chicken:

Inspection. Only buy chicken that has been inspected to ensure they didn’t have any diseases and are guaranteed to have the best quality.

Frozen or not? People can buy chicken fresh where the raw poultry hasn’t been frozen yet below 26-degrees F or frozen where it has been held at 0 to -17.8-degrees C). For the latter, the chicken must be labeled as frozen.

Antibiotics and growth hormones. Don’t buy chicken that has been raised with growth hormones. Antibiotics can be used on chickens to prevent them from contracting or spreading diseases. The law, however, requires raisers not to give antibiotics weeks before slaughter time. This will prevent antibiotic residues from remaining inside the chicken’s system.

Bacteria. Between 40 and 140-degrees F, bacteria might start to thrive in the meat. The freezing process will not kill bacteria but will inhibit them from growing in numbers and eventually lead to decomposition. That’s the reason why chicken meat should not be eaten rare or worse, raw. Thorough cooking of chicken meat will kill these bacteria.

The most common types of dangerous bacteria found in this poultry are Salmonella, Campylobacter jejuni, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and Listeria monocytogenes.
